Blocking is now for endgame, usually designed for dex build with 4k in dexterity.
Some class have small %block chance (usually str based) while other have better.
Each shield also have different value %chance block

How do you get a reliable source of heal on a summon barb?

Probably gift of inner fire proc.

Take note that eagle stance (and probably some heal) work much weaker on minion.
I think it was at 1/256 effectiveness

Character Orb was removed this patch.

It doesn't drop anymore. Special box from griswold only drops 50% now. Check the change log for info
