Neph weapons gives significantly more damage than kraken stance and for a lot less points (for kraken to be good you need to dump a lot of points into stances).

Downside of neph weapons is - no runemaster & you have to go full str or energy for max benefit.

Downside of kraken - you don't use the other stances, have to spend time rolling a good crafted helm, you deal less elemental damage.

Cool nice to know but thinking of making a simple barb with t6 glaive for fortress on kill the use fortress as skill as support and stormblast as main attack with a qor rw shield and t6 ancient plate for easy -90 enemy resi and then either use kraken helmet with runemaster, or some sacred barb helm with nephilim weapon and of course max spirit guide with 4-5 wolfes and i dunno propally dementhia belt because that belt is like the best or auhe rw for more fortress spam and gloves and boots vita for tcd and more - resi for fire ice light. Can rune master be ignored if tcd is raised enough trough orbs?

For newer versions, what's on this forum is what we have. Now, let me offer some guidance.

First, I'd like to say that gold is relatively easy to come by in this game, either my picking up and selling rares, selling socketed throwing weapons (throwing knives, throwing axes, short spears, glaives, etc.) with any rune in them, finding and selling apples, and I'm sure by other means as well. Once you hit Act II in Hatred, the maximum you can earn by selling goes up substantially, so you should be fine as long as you pick up every rune you find along the way.

Next, let me offer my opinion: half the fun of the game--to me, at least--is theorycrafting new builds. Skim through the documentation which is available on the DOCUMENTATION tab on the top of the screen if you're on PC, mobile you should be able to find it with a google search like "Median XL XVI documentation". There you can find all the information on every item in the game sans realm-only secret Sacred Uniques (SSU) and such, and from that information you can identity what items you want to obtain and what items are good for your build. However, figuring out what exactly IS good for your build is understandably difficult for newer players, myself included for a long while.

That said, what kind of Barb build are you wanting to make? I'm sure I can give you a few quick pointers (more experienced players, please fact check me) that'll get you started and set you on the right path for your character.

Where did you find such info? Considering barb builds, ChuckNoris has a bunch of them. His style is mailny providing gear suggestion and gameplay advices, so if you're looking for a step-by-step full barb guide - take a look at the guide section for Black Mamba and Tantrum guides.

Most barb guides are not very newbie friendly because of skill-switching, but if you're ok with that, pick up one that suits you most.

The mountain of information to learn is part of the game, haha. You don't necessarily need all of it to get by, but once you start wanting to beat all of the Destruction ubers--including the extremely difficult ones--you'll need that information to optimize your character.

Anyway, as far as barbs go, I don't have much experience; I haven't played a barb since one of the earlier Median XL versions (before Overkill was a skill, IIRC, it used to be Hawk Talons which is now only an oSkill).

However, user ChuckNoRis has a miniguide/build compilation that has several barbarian guides. Here's a link: viewtopic.php?t=491

EDIT: I'd recommend Chuck's 2H Barb or one of his throwing barbs (Overkill or Rebound) as a place to start if you really want to play Barbarian.
