Add Riptide to that and you can reach 80%, only 10k dmg barrels!
Barb with 80% magic res, smaxed Immortal, Crane Stance and 30k+ hp could eat many barrels.

Then again what's the point... they are easy enough to dodge. But nice to know they are pure magic dmg, I've been living in a lie too thinking they are half phys dmg.

does the minus res penalty in destruction apply to magic res as well or do you just need 75% in all difficulty to cap it.

Best I can tell, there's no Magic res penalty per difficulty.

I suck at dodging barrels in Dunc, so I use this trick whenever I go there.

Just to put in perspective, if you've ever gone in with a necro, the barrels will usually just stun his summons. From my experience at least. Been told by other reliable sources, and also with the experiences I've had. Necro's summons = magic immunes = stunned most of the time only. I'm 99% sure they're all magic damage, but it's always been said "phys/magic" because they fall in the same category.

Also to add, even if they dealt phys damage, it's actually physical spell (things like Vessel of Retribution), so the amount of defense you have would make no effect on it (for the sake of random MXL tips).

I'm pretty sure barrels deal both 50k phys AND 50k magic, the fact there's a phys/mag spell dmg stat has nothing to do with it
