So my first character just reached 120 and im a Cold/light sorc. my only "good" item is the Elverfolk runeword weapon. i have the Ennead's Bane chest(T6) and rest is honorfic gear with res, - enemy lighning res and added Lightning damage. my rings and amu are pretty much useless they have some Lightning damage and - enemy Lightning res but thats it.
Now i've looked at the set elemental storm and assume this is what i want to be upgrading to. i've tried farming kurast 3000 on desctruion since it has drop bias to sets. But it does not really work out i die far to quickly and really have to cheese it to make it work. So as you can imagine it end up taking alot of time for very Little reward.
My question is should i go back to terror and farm kurast 3000 which i can do at a decent speed or should i be doing something else like nithiliak or trav?

Well, I'd suggest farming terror k3k. as you go, collect ornate shrines and upgrade your honorifics to ornate crafts. this will let you start some ubers and farm a bit before you get full light set.

Fauztinville terror is pretty good than k3k! They drop massives shrines + runes + jewels + uniques... All those items crafted or runewords makes you better to farm k3k destruction to get set light sorc.
P.S Fauztinville drop random rings and amulets uniques pretty good for caster too. Also, rings and ammy rare there.
I suggest you to farm more in fauztinville terror because it way much faster than k3k

if this is ur 1st char then u would definely want to farm hall of pain. In case u don't know drop rate there is higher than many uber even duncraig, mostly rare or unique with <200 MF, this has been confirmed by many ppl including me. Get jitan charm, then find hall of pain wp, then keep clearing all enemies from there up to hall of nih, finally clear all 4 ways of hall of Nih. This usually results in ~10 tu's, atleast 4 sets, and 1-2 su's, plus u will get 2 signets of learning which u will need anyway. Repeat this until u get 500 signets (~150 - 200 times), in the process u will get tons of SU's and sets.
The point of farming this area is, beside it having good drop rate, u have a more reasonable reason to do it, getting 500 signets is always more important and stable than finding a full set. Plus, in the process, u get many thing u need for ur char: jewels and tu's into shards for jewel crafting which is very crucial for endgame casters; rares for gold; su's and set's; and the best thing is u will be able to practice facing elite monsters like uneslise lady, skull crusher, lightning monkey- some of the most annoying enemies in the game, while it's still ez enough to not struggle too hard. So after a few hundred runs, u have: necessery items, experience, and full stats points. I got like 2/3 of my su's from there. Don't think just a full set is gonna change ur life, though lightning set pretty much does that for a sorc, but what is more important for ur char is trivial things like socketting, ways to move/dodge mobs, and ur "feel" of that char, if u have only got her to 120, that's not enough to get used to her completely.

Try to reach -150% enemy lightning res at least, easy heroic bosses (BPR, DBaal, Belial,...) should be no problem.
This setup gives you ~250k defense, which makes it safe enough for endless Tran Athulua farming. Drop rate in Tran is not that good but if you manage to clear everything in less than 5 minutes and stack ~300MF it's worth grinding the area for some nice SUs.

Ornate crafted gloves with +1 sorc skill > kali.
Ornate crafted circlets > Eulenspiegel.
Ornate crafted sorc armor > Comaetho.
Ornate crafted staff > Elverfolk.
Alought there's no reason to use any of that with light set ofc.
