how does vampiric icon work?

So i'm just curious, got vampiric icon a moment ago. looking at that much hp in a short time, I figured it'd need to be in melee and have some form of restriction . . . . but atm i just can't seem to figure out how it works.

I've tried using it so mobs are in the fire, tried standing in it, using it at range, attacking within it, idk. just not sure how this skill actually works to boost my survival.

edit: seems to do a little when mobs walk through it . . . . but it's basically nothing.

From all that flashy animation only the cross actually leeches life. It may require some practice aiming that cross correctly.

lol, only the cross? does it do any damage? (is the damage relative to your hp?) . . . that'll certainly take practice aiming lol

edit: doesn't do any damage. and even the leech itself is very situational, if it's not on multiple mobs at once it doesn't seem to do much. a single noctule heals me more than 1 mob under that, and faster with less restrictions lol. . . . . . maybe usable in ubers if it's something that doesn't teleport but idk.

it's mostly usable for caster builds that do not have better sources of leech/regen . the weapon damage builds will leech faster than vampiric icon , but can still use it in very crowded spots .

dang, well it may have one or two niche locations i can use it in. namely the 115 uber downstairs with a billion blood bolts coming at my face, since they; don't move it could help there but idk many other spots.

you can also use 1x or 2x chorozon rw claws for ice elementals as meatshield for such situations , you also got Psionic scream to make opponents flee

also have a +5 charm coming from my shield atm too which will come in handy down there.

It's not working (and should be replaced with smth looooong time ago). Don't waste any point there (-:

replace it with magic + phys % dmg reduction to pair with prismatic lol. or better yet, a solid +max hp lol.
