Hey.

(edited)

tl;dr:
- Vote No if you you like map variants even if they are not necessarily equally difficult (example: current Duncraig)
- Vote Yes if you prefer maps having only one version

To clarify: I won't make map variations that are essentially the same as existing versions, but just in a different direction. It takes a high amount of unecessary work and it doesn't bring any innovation at all. I'm willing to make map variations only if this means the layouts can be different and thus the difficulty can change too (not drastically, obviously). But having people feel they need to re-roll maps to get easier versions is undesirable, so vote having that in mind.

Cheers,

Would be great to see an alternative version of Bremmtown and Ureh to increase its difficulty a bit.

Khalimgrad already has random placed spires, besides, a few people actually farm it now. No need for an alternative.

IotSS and the Truine have their own unique passway to bosses, imo, don't need to have an alternative map.

Maybe another version of Tran Athulua? Black Road Challenge would have been more than just a usual challenge that way (an alternate way to kill 2 priestesses?).

My vote for 'no' :D

Edit: I like another variant of K3KBA more than the original one. Rerolling maps just to slay one poor Ennead Necro without an immunity to get the class charm is meh. So if you gonna remove alternative variants of Dunc and Kurast, why not remove the original K3KBA then to make everything fair so all Necromancers would have an immunity when you get inside the map.

though I support new maps; sounds like something that will create room for lots of bugs; cheese bugs and just in general bugs.

No, just to keep you busy.

Depends on what new layout has to offer. Old Duncraig - easier to farm boss, new Duncraig - easier to farm mobs. Old K3K - easier to farm unprotected boss, new K3K - mistake was fixed. I would love to see:
new symetrical Vizjun with random boss spawn locations - like Nithlaklaskak place
new larger Toraja
new Khalimgrad with some difficulty adjustments
new TA with 3 to blink at boss locations like brain boss in Fauzt

Sucks to get a shit map, I vote yes. Variety is ok though as long as there is no clear advantage of one map roll over the other.

Basically what void said, except i voted no. Different variants are awesome, but make them similar in terms of amount of open space, narrow corridors and required blinks.
Problem with creative arrangements over similar layout is that they usually mean more walls and less space for error. I guess it's a matter of consistency and whether you want different maps to vary in difficulty or just look a bit different.
The dunc example: You wouldn't want to farm the trophy on the new map, because Assur is just so far away it's probably faster to reroll the map.

A Median XL guru... a true book of knowledge
Both dunc maps give the same rewards, but it's easier to die on the alternative. Naturally, when given the choice, people prefer the path of least resistance.

I like the alternative map, because it is more efficient for farming items/hr once you have a good character. However obtaining the charm is easier on the old for obvious reasons.

So bottom line, I like the alternative maps because I'm a big fan of variety and would like them to stay as they are. Yes some people reroll to get the easier map while they are weak, but the presence of the alternative gives them a nice incentive to improve and graduate to the "big boy league", where they can farm the harder map for higher efficiency (both because of its layout + density and because they wont need to reroll).

If you want to get rid of the options I would prefer it if the "alternative" became the default. Didn't you feel like that level was too easy for the rewards it gave before? Same goes for k3kba.
