I really like the idea of this skill.. I gave it a shot and made it till about mid Terror before I gave up.

It seems completely non viable as a primary skill. The boss damage is alright assuming you can sustain spam casting it (mana cost is really high). Problem is, that damage doesn't scale at all into multi target. It's simply spread out and requires ramp up.

Is there a niche to make it viable? I imagine is scales well with crushing blow if you can stack a ton of it. It would work well with a slows target build?

Well, it's kind of a known build, but lost it's power right now, people prefer to play limpet laser template, its stronger and faster to get most basic or even non basic charms. Now ATMG is mostly used in ubers that require to keep open wounds all the time, from distance.
For items you could try to stack as much cb as possible, use Ohm RW claw (25% thunder hammer on striking) TU Chain Mail, rest would be abandon crafts with max %dex, ilvl1 would be perfect. For belt you can use TU light or heavy belt, for helm, use Jah RW in tiara, roll max +skills. Also, you need good Abandoned crafted shield with 1% block chance, high % dex and atmg ofc.

It would be standard midgame gear, but I have no idea how it would work in MXL2017

The problem is that this ladder it got even less dmg than before, and the proc from Albrecht deals 1/2 WDM instead of 100% (can anyone confirm this?) I don't know if thunder hammer got reduced but it always did 3/4 WDM.

It's a horrible built to start and now that they also removed the possibility to easily reach -100 enemy res it deals even less damage than before. The bonus dmg from ways is bad at the beginning if you have no +skills, the same goes for doom. Some patches ago it was great but I think that was more than 3 years ago.

Nice, I fail at doing my research. I'm currently using the Naga RW because I don't have the shrines to craft a shield with ATMG. Those two items should make quite a difference, thanks.

It used to be decent, got nerfed for unknown reason to base 1.6 seconds, and it relied a lot on crushing blow which also got nerfed. I'd suggest against it, can go throwsin instead if you need ranged physical damage.

I don't think it helpfull because of kill speed .
My gear is starmaiden , royal circet , TU6 splint mail , TU6 heavy belt , dex crafted gloves , SU chain boots , Zayl's Temptation .
Charm : all easy charm , void , sleep trophied bla bla..
I can't find a way to increase damage .

I can't actually vouch for throwsin lol, it's still better than ATMG though, and could do some ubers. Still trying to figure out a decent farming spec for sin, limpet is passable but the wall requirement is a pain.

I've tried throwsin and did not like it. The fact that throwing at enemies actively gimps your damage just the whole thing.

Also, how is sin the only class without a summon? I'm not looking forward to trying to do butcher?

Figure I'll report back. It wasn't until like a4 destruction that I finally found a sacred sin shield base to craft atmg to use with judge. Up until then, I was using Noctule.

I've got about 2/3 of the charms at this point, done either using Noctule or ATMG.

Pros:
ATMG is very simple to play, cast it and forget it. Its 100% autotarget and doesn't miss.

Cons:
Damage is mediocre. Its average single target, its very below average for trash clearing. In comparison, I probably do about double the dps using noctule with the exact same gear. The trade off obviously is safety of a ranged vs melee. Which leads to the second point, it's squishy. I've never been a fan of sin for this reason. Perfect being is great, until it's not. A few bad dice rolls in a row and you die due to a lack of life, defense, and DR. You've got decent block and avoid and that's about it, both of which aren't super reliable.

Overall I give it 5/10. ATMG is a fun skill but its one of the weaker builds I've played.
