Good single player build for higher ubers?

Hey guys,

After having picked up Median XL with the 2017 patch about a month ago I gotta say that I'm really thankful for the developers to keep this game alive. As my first char I made a Bowazon based on the guide that you can find here in the forum somewhere. I'm now facing the ubers labeled as hard or very hard in the documentation and things are getting quite frustrating as I'm getting one shot in many levels. Therefore, I'd like to start another char, this time with a focus on end game feasibility because I'd like to see some more end game content. I've read somewhere that in general necromancer and barbarian are pretty strong. I tend to make a barb but in the guide center I can only find a cold monarch barb guide that states it is not viable in late game. All the other guides aren't updated for 2017. What can you guys recommend me? Throwbarb?

Necromancer, crossbow and totem gets you everywhere and does everything.

well if you want to then you can do everything with amazon, you just need to change your spec depending on the uber. in general this is true for all classes. all classes should be able to do all ubers (some are stronger than others but, the point is that its possible), sometimes you can even make a hybrid kind of char that has 1pt in certain skills that you need for a specific task and be able to complete a lot of ubers with just that 1 spec, but in general for some ubers such as startled witch its usually highly recommended to adapt to the specific conditions of that uber with proper items and smart skill choices.
this answer may not satisfy you, but in general this is how it is. even with totem necro youre far better off by switching your spec to melee and gearing for some ubers. barb as well, ama, sorc, paladin, etc, its true for them all to varying extent, and in the case of amazon its quite special because you are locked into 1 skill set at a time, in this case bow, but for some ubers it can be smart to be a bloodzon (there is an old guide for it) or a pouncezon (old guide exists).
imo if you have any love left for amazon try a different spec such as bloodzon and in case you decide to go for it and have difficulties with some uber then the people here will be able to assist you with advice on what works best

Thanks for both your advices! I actually really enjoyed playing the amazon until recently, and still do in some levels. But I gotta be honest, I don't have much time and my motivation for extensive farming is quite low. If I would force myself to keep going down a certain road that required certain gear I would most likely stop playing, but I'd like to avoid that. Therefore I was thinking about playing a new class, which would maybe show me why I should play amazon again. For example, I have been farming the Pantheon set for a while but aside from having found stuff from basically every set in Median XL, I'm still sitting on 2 items of the Pantheon set. But I don't like to complain to about farming and drop rates, that's not productive.

And you're completely right, I was already looking at some other (older) amazon build that could perhaps help me move forward or at least beat some ubers. I think there is also a so called Lagertha amazon melee build in the mini guide thread which was updated to 2017 (credits to the author for using Vikings references).

After the recommendation of RandomOnions I had a look at the two necromancer builds and I think I'll try the totemancer next. Let's see how far he will get me
