What do you like about Median XL ?

After a long time, I only see posts of people disliking the game e.g: ''DEVS DONT CARE ABOUT US!!11!'', ''This game sux cya nerds'' etc.

For a change I thought to open this thread with a simple question. ''What do you like about Median XL?''
So, guys, what motivates you to keep playing the game and what are the things you most enjoy/like from it?

I'll start:

To me? The Assassin (insert SomnusPLS emote):

Why? She's everything I like from a game that cLoD didnt achieved to give. Glass cannon fast paced gamestyle. High damage, 24 7 insta RIPS.
The path to the ubers: Progressing through the game with the assassin is so enjoyable for me (unlike with other classess, i cant. I just cant play them out of boredoom (cause their playstyle). You either position/gear yourself properly, or you rip 24 7.
The ubers themselves: A lot of ubers are cancerous *cough* triune/uldy/etc *cough*, but still enjoyable once you get the hang of them!
The community...sometimes: Some days its nice, you have a chat with people, you laugh, you cry because you laugh too much or you really cry cause you got cancer out of it. DEVS DONT CARE ABOUT US!1!11

So, here are my reasons and 2 cents. Hopefully everyone is having a nice day/night!

What I like the most in MXL is the nice ratio between the huge amount of content and the quality of it. Sure, things can be improved greatly towards a more round-type of gameplay instead of a spiky one but, even as things are right now, there's a lot that is offered to the players and very little that ends up being refused/despised.

I like how its more complex than LoD. The expanded crafting and different tiers of SU are also what keep me grinding. Having different Uber bosses and special areas besides just the moo moo farm is also a great change of pace. There is only so many meph/baal runs one human can do without feeling entirely burned out.

My only gripe about it is how its kinda trial by fire if you don't really do any research on the website with the documents and such. Luckily I found a vet who had been playing the game for a lot longer than I have and he pretty much showed me the ropes of whats important and how to tweak your characters. At around 1 month I was stuck farming terror TA. The user helped me out for about a day by showing me what I should be striving for and with-in 2 days of personal farming and grinding, I was able to solo baal on dest.

PS, I cannot wait(but I know I have to!) for the new patch to come out, it looks very promising! Keep up the good work devs, believe it or not, there are people out there who love your work. Don't let the trolls discourage you from doing what you love.

Seriously though, I love that there are so many build possibilities (and even sub-builds) with a single character. Barbs aren't just melee fighters, Necros aren't just summoners, Sorcs aren't just casters, etc. Sure there are the standard "op" and "cookie cutter" builds, but there's generally enough variety among items, oskills, and skill trees to make even playing a single character still feel fresh over time.

It's also great that with all the changes from--and additions to--CLoD, MXL has stayed faithful to the source material. Yeah there are robots and lazors and nukes and whatnot, but overall it still feels like D2 at it's heart. It may sound cheesy, but for me, MXL is Diablo 2.

I also like that both the community and mod development are so active. I'm still in mourning over the death of Shoutbox, though. Discord is okay, but it will always be just a pale substitute.

I like ragequitting and reading about others who flood forum with their ragequit posts.

I fucking hate groupies so I want to level a char that is possible to do Laz only to clear the room from groupies and then find a 0% reanimate charm.

I don't even know anymore, I guess it's fun?

- Different / unusual type of build (mostly early day median concept)
- Super difficulty game unlike normal (except Im no longer resilient like 10 years ago to play difficult games)
- Tons of uber that tricky and required specific mentality / preparation
- Tons of item types (although lately i think there arent much build enabler oskill)
- Additionally, all other addon that was added to "improve" median (plugy, d2stats, multires, d2se, dll inject in 2017)

Only part i hated was I need to grind 20~ hours to just to reach end game stuff (last time I can play median everyday but now I prefer to clear my steam backlog). BUYER REMORSE INTENSIFIED!
