I recently leveled my 4th character, a sorceress, to level 120 because I recently completed my Warmage set and wanted to try it out. I decided to go with Marco's Tanya guide because I really enjoyed playing fire/ice sorc in D2LOD. I had a great time leveling up and from very early on I made sure to always have 25% to minion resists to benefit my ice elementals. It is stated in the guide that in Terror/Destruction that the minions need 75% resists and I just don't know how to reasonably get to that number without sacrificing A LOT of my MO space and sockets. Also, I don't even know if it is worth it in today's meta. I really like my ice elementals because they give an amazing amount of utility but I am SO sick of summoning them nonstop. Does anyone have some advice? Thank you. :)

summon minion resists doesnt work; on destruction they have -100% to all resists except for cold and 25% dr - i think this explains your thought

Stacking minions resist on Destruction makes no sense, even if you reach 75% in total (beating the penalty), minions will still receive elemental damage.

Its 0 in hatred -40% in terror and -100% in dest and you can only change this by applying buffs/auras


According to skills.txt it should be as written in the lfaq but it just doesnt work

Are you trying to say that the 75% base for minions (from lvl 5) does not work? Have you actually tested it in practice or are you just basing that off a mh reading? The reason I ask is because that value could be stored at a different memory address, that the mh does not read and so cannot see, and yet works in a hardcoded way. Same reason why d2stats does not read the effective speeds for example.

you can test it yourself with the aura of champions of the sun? go to terror difficulty and add the required amount of minion resists to make them immune, and they never will. And yes you are right - no maphack displays those resists as well.

I didnt do any dmg tests though - but until then theres more proof for it to actually not work than for it to work

Or by the same token it could be that the aura is broken instead :mrgreen:

I'll try to run some tests tomorrow maybe. Would be an important piece of information if the lfaq is actually wrong about the minion res.

What skill deals an almost constant dmg, because i also really want to know if this is actually true or not.

SO what would be a reliable test scenario ?

edit: I just test by dmg - in hatred - i used 2 chars in pvp one zon that summoned 1 fire elemental and i added minion resists and checked dmg. And by adding 25% in hatred i indeed coulndt dmg that minion with elemental skills.

So to sum up: (and this should probably go to the lfaq to prevent confusion)

Minion resists indeed do work - but the immunities are not displayed by any maphack or the game itself!

This is known and stated in the LFAQs for several years now. Only people that get confused are the ones using hacky maphacks ;)

It's a unique feature of theirs.
(*1) With the exception of Hatred. In Hatred, an slvl 5+ minion can become elementally immune with +25% minion resists.
Note, however, that this immunity is invisible, and won't show up on the minion.
Minions under slvl 5 are trickier, so I'm not going into that :P

(*2) As of MXL 1.A9, slvl 5+ minions can also become elementally immune in Terror.
