I agree with the point of "no other damage source matters". Since Nephalim Weapons is useless then, I would go with a full dex variant and take Gladiators Dominance for block. For weapon use a throwing axe with banish proc and low str requirement (T1 rare would be great lol). Get a dex based shield with 2% ctb. Whirlpool would make a great AoE multi-hitting melee skill, and still use ice burst for Single target.

Block for endgame sure, but for earlier stage I'm not so sure.
Runemaster + bear stance = shitton of defense + 50% dr from skills. You socket xar for -2enemy ele res per rune. Perfect synergy.
You can dump most stats into vitality.
If you go dex, you have less life. Also bonus magic damage from gladiator dominance will not unlock magic component of screaming eagle for melee skills I think, it adds magic only to throwing skills.
Deadly strike also shouldn't work. It doubles phys damage or phys converted to element. But damage added via curse I don't think gets doubled through deadly strike. So it is another dead mod on this skill.

As for using this combo with throwing skills. Most multihitting ability is overkill. Problem with that is, it multihits still way less than iceburst/stormblast and being wdm of 120% it isnt anywhere as efficient with added flat damage. With skill such as overkill it is actually worth to scale weapon damage, or ele from weapon, neph weapons and so on. It actually gains value via 120% wdm, opposed to losing like for low wdm skills.

Thers also 3rd approach. Dual wielding for statstick. There are some high elemental pierce offhands, and your attack speed goes up from 7 to 6 frames, which is 16% dps boost.

Note that if we are talking about uber boss spec, you don't even need to have throwing axe in your main setup. Long duration s.eagle, curse for like 30s or whatever it lasts, then swap to something else.
Imagine Thunder King of Sescheron, 2 stormblasts per swing? :P In this setup fact that this weapon deals trash damage doesn't matter.

any thoughts on TUs for leveling if I decide to go for the Screaming Eagle route? Haven't played for a bit so I'm a bit rusty :(.

Basically - I guess instead of maximizing Wolf Companion you simply go for Screaming Eagle and either go for Bear Stance or Snake Stance instead of Wolf Stance - Still keeping Spirit Guide / Runemaster / potential shield for major Defense gains, right?

what stats work for this:
1. need source of fire/cold/lightning flat damage, any amount, thats must, at least 1 damage each from 1 source is enough
2. +skills (especially early on super good)
3. -enemy resist
4. attack rating/some dex
5. try to get decent defense on crucial pieces like chest

if you go bear stance + runemaster + shield, then socket runes, priorityze non-runewords.
build you maybe want smax ancient blood, to increase screaming eagle level as much as possible, stop bear stance at 50% dr with gear

Yeah i remember now, grandfathers memes with Sescheron weapon. I for some reason thought that if you use two of it it works, but not if thers only 1 as offhand.

As for TU setup, classic pieces like queen of glass (if we don't need that slot for flat ele damage such as jitans), Farnham's Flowerpot for -12 all, TU throwing axe depending on how it gets changed, it would be perfect -20 all res, +4 barb skills.
it will be balance between pierce and +skills, in some cases item with +4 skill could be better than little bit of pierce
further you get into the endgame, and have more +skills from charms, pierce will become more and more valuable

docs are up to date now, seems that TU throwing axe is mostly the same, just has 0 physical damage now, and adds more flat ele

it means we have all types of damage from weapon, can use queen of glass as chest piece

so if we go with pierce:
-20 chest
-12 helm
-20 weapon
all TU, socket XAR in every slot: 2 weapon, 4 helm, 6 chest, 4 shield, 2 belt, 4 boots, 4 gloves = 26 *2 = 52
first cheap charm is six angel bag with 5 more pierce

that leaves us with 109 pierce.. :E thats pretty high value.
Could get more if you went 2nd axe for 20 more, maybe craft individual pierces on some armor parts.
Either way 100 pierce thats over 4x damge multiplier vs +70 res bosses.

maxig blood hatred would give us 25 pierce and healing, but also 2% life drain per second which is fairly annoying
we would have about 400 life/attack which tbh isn't that big of a value, for how many points this skill costs
also small note: we can use 1pt wolf stance to get +magic damage early on, if we don't need bear during certain encounrs, thats easy swap, before we get magic elemental rune socketed somewhere to add magic damage
I can't find any cheap source of flat magic damage, except great runewords and ele magic rune.
