First and foremost, this guide draws most of if not all of its inspiration and information from Wulf's SSF Bowzon Guide
His Bowzon guide is one of if not the most thorough guide on the forums, it just has a bit of outdated information due to the passing of time.
I will be updating outdated information, while preserving the vast knowledge that hasn't changed. That being said, most of the time when "I" is being used read "wulf"
I am in no way trying to pass off anything in this guide, except very minimal adjustments and tweaks made to update outdated information as my own words or creation.

Introduction
I decided to present a different type of guide. In a Solo Self-Found run, one cannot anticipate which items will be found. It's therefore important to plan for all eventualities and make do with what drops.

    I will do three things in this guide:
    • Provide a chronological progression milestone list to assure the smoothest progression throughout your journey.
    • Present videos for each Uberquest, including the hardest ones.
    • Lay out loads of gear suggestions that are upgrades to an easy-to-get basic item setup.


    Why Bowzon?
    • It's a very simple and easy-to-play build for newcomers.
    • With a little bit of investment , Bowzons are one of the best farmers in the game.
    • With recent additions such as Decoy, we are now rather decent at doing most encounters, we have a fairly easy time obtaining most charms.

      Wyrmshot is for killing trash mobs and Trinity Arrow against tanky targets.

    Note: *Be careful of maxing wyrmshot early, put points into it as you notice you're able to sustain the mana more and more, putting points into the Meditation early is okay. With these points allocated at 145, you will have 30 skill points remaining.
    There are a few things you can do here with the remainder of the points.
    You can choose to put more points into Paragon, Wild and Free, Endurance, Tenacity.
    I personally choose to put 5-7 points into decoy for the cooldown and then I put the rest into Wild and Free

With the addition of the Maiden Bow a new mastercrafted item base, we have a new set of breakpoints, they are the first set of breakpoints in the list and we will need to reach 456 ias to reach 7fpa. The second set of breakpoints is for reflex bow.

Quick Tips
Before you start:
  • If you are a new player, I highly recommend you follow the Milestone section to the letter. It's foolproof and specifically designed to take you by the hand and have you progress as far as possible. Diverge at your own risk.

  • Pickup all uniques you find to disenchant. They're used to uptier/create uniques (lottery rolls), to shrine bless crafts, for jewelcrafting and opening high Lab portals.

  • Use D2Stats for the drop notifier and stats reading. Here's a basic script you can edit to your liking: (simply copy/paste into program Notifier tab)

Playthrough tips:
  • Pick up Bloodstone/Onyx/Amber/Turquoise gems in the early game for armor sockets, resists are very important.
  • Limit attribute points spent into str. Stick with low requirement bases and maximize dex. As you reach midgame, you'll rely on str given from charms to equip sacred items.
  • Always rerun ubers for high or perfect charm rolls. Newer players often omit doing this. These stats add up and make up a significant part of your dmg and survivability. Especially considering there are more than 40 uber charms.

Troubleshooting: (middle game)
  • My dmg is low, why?
    • Did you MO all your item slots up to your level?
    • Do you have perfect amethysts on all your armor slots?
    • Do you have a crafted weapon with 200ed and 300max?
    • Did you consume 400 sigs?
    • Did you spend all your base attribute points in dex?
    • Do you proc on-kill Bloodlust with weapon swap?
    • Did you gather all uber charms up to your level?
    • Did you rerun ubers for high or perfect roll charms? ← Most people omit this; they shouldn't.
      If you answered yes to all, you simply need better gear. Check the Item Upgrades section and farm Duncraig.
  • Why do you MO str in your build?
      A lot of good sacred items require above 550 str to wear. Str given from charms, MO's and gear are attribute points you save that go in dex. So in a way, 1 str = 1 dex (until you have enough str to equip everything).
  • What do I MO my Starting/Entry level gear with?
    • Weapons: inti/aban bless+luck first → %ed to 196 → ewd → ds → max (In doubt, use a dmg calculator).
    • Armor: max → dex. Bless with aban.
    • Rings/Amulet/Quivers: Psn length reduction → +20 to life → rest open for when resists are needed.
  • How much mf should I have?
      As a general rule, killspeed is always preferable to mf. 200-250mf is a great base amount to have, going above this is fine, but don't ever lose clear speed for mf.

Strategy: Spellbind → Bait with Decoy → Kill with Trinity Arrow. She's your goddess, it is ok to turn off Ecstatic Frenzy here. Can sometimes be a troublesome fight with low gear, do your best to bait with decoy, keep her spellbound, and just spam Trinity Arrow. You will die, just come back.

Strategy: Area with a rotating full set determined by the season. Navigate the maze and find your Nemesis, defeat them to receive an upgrade to your class charm. Mummy has 50% CTC Crucify on death it hurts, stay mobile and look for your RED Amazon Nemesis. Area can be very difficult, but has undergone some nerfs.

      How to craft:
      After finding your first sacred Mastercrafted Maiden Bow, roll the with shrines until you find a craft with 165-200ed and 250-300dmg. It can be a mix of min and max dmg together, it makes no difference. These bows are typically called "200-300s" (for 200ed-300dmg). These affixes roll together once every ~30 full shrines, so expect to need several hundred rolls per bow. Ideally, you want to craft with Intimidating shrines, but realistically you should dump every single shrines (except aban) you find into a Maiden Bow. Keep spare bows for future shrines. Aban shrines are best used on armor pieces. The bow stats you're after are part of a common pool of affixes; the shrine bonuses are very minor. Here is a couple of examples of bad/decent/excellent bows rolls.

      Relevant affixes: 200ed, 320max, 120min, 15%ls, 30slow, 60mf, 15%dex, 60dex, on strike arrow/knife/time strike.

      Bow upgrades:
        1) Cube bow with Oil of Luck.
        2) Bless with: Abandonned if bow has 200ed, Intimidating if under 200ed.
        3) If bow still isn't at 200ed, MO 15ed until 196ed (continue at 195ed, stop at 196ed).
        4) MO 12ewd (5x).
        5) MO 1ds (5x).
        6) MO max dmg (rest).
        7) Put in 6x Perfect Skulls.

      The thing about Valkyrie's Prime is that WDM procs, such as knife/arrow/javelin all have had their dmg buffed from 50% to 100% of WDM.
      This bow has a 35% chance to cast arrow on striking. This is massive.
      With the sheer amount of times Wyrmshot is hitting in dense areas this will be proccing constantly.
      That combined with other sources of WDM procs amounts to a massive amount of damage.
      They can proc themselves they can proc other WDM procs, etc.
      ITD is nice, but we're a dex character and chances are we're @ 95% chance to hit.
      Sometimes in areas such as Scosglen though our chance to hit is 90-93~ so this does have somewhat of an effect even if negligible.
      Maximum elemental resists are really good at higher end content, especially places like lab if that's your thing.
      Lastly you will be at 7 fpa with this bow no matter your IAS, your IAS could be -14 and you're still at 7 fpa

It is where you will use all your AC's after Ripstars. This item has an enormous amount of space for UMO/Effigies. Upon successfull lottery you will use some sort of combination of UMO/Effigy on it.

      I suggest saving your aban shrines for other pieces first (craft chest once you already have decent gloves/belt and an okay helm). Contrary to zon helms, %dex and %aa rolls are very common on body armors. Early, settle for something that rolled %dex and mf (2 affixes), and swap armor to a better roll with %dex, dex and mf (3 affixes). Keep in mind that the aban shrine bonus on body armors rolls up to 12% dex, not 8% like other armor pieces. You can go up to 39%dex with affix+aban+bless. Such a craft with high dex will last you a while.

      10ds, 63dmg and 25%ls. Very good armor, if not the best. This armor is heavy and makes you noticeably slower than using Auriel's Robe or The War Cloak. In the past bowzon has had to suck every bit of raw power and strength out of every available source, the last few seasons though I have been running strictly Auriel's Robe. Robe is less damage, but at certain points of progression I feel it is better to sacrifice some of the damage this piece provides for faster movement.



GLOVES

      Burning Veil is a large fire wall that gives you 89ewd for 60 secs when you pass through it. Try to find a pair with ias and 2 other relevant affix. Otherwise, I doubt it's worth replacing the Honorific. Aban crafted gloves can potentially be BiS if you roll 3-4 good affixes and high %dex on the aban rolls, but it would require a lot of shrines. Hammerfists are very hard to beat in terms of dmg and are very common. When Hammerfist drops, forget crafting gloves and switch to using most of your aban shrines to some other slot that needs upgrading.

      You lose 4 perf amethysts. 75% ias, +10 damage, 10-40 aa, 10%str, 10% dex, +1max cold resist. So back to the part about farming high/perfect roll %aa and flat attribute charms. It's a reoccurring theme here that we want to squeeze stats out from any available source, we're a physical damaging build that gains massive benefits from every extra attribute point we're able to acquire. That being said, all that dex now gives us 1% EWD per 50. This is great, especially with all the farming we've been doing in terms of obtaining those charms. The ias on these gloves is really high too, and if you're using a Maiden Bow (456 required IAS for 7fpa) it's giving us even more damage. Crafting these and hitting a low roll to all attributes kind of hurts, but it isn't the end of the world. Craft these in 4os/1pr base determined by your available strength. Jewelcraft a max damage jewel w/ %2 dex, and FHR on it to alleviate pressure on the 172 breakpoint

Ok upon obtaining this item you can probably if not already respec and take every single point out of strength. Excellent amount of ls and ds.

      25ias, 2%ctc WPD proc, 10-25 dmg, 15-25 aa 5%pr. With how powerful and easy to obtain Wind Runner boots are it's easy to overlook Knight's Grace. They are rare, and you will have to mo -req on them, most likely no matter where you are in gear progression. You regain 4 amethyst using these over Wind Runner also, which is nice in a build that can easily lose a lot of them to great RW options. CTC WPD procs are very, very good and these also have that.

Otherwise if you have no desire for that T4 boots are fine. These boots are rather easy to craft and you will want to craft them in a 40ms/1pr base. These are one of your easiest obtainable items to corrupt and fish for great corruptions.

      Relevant affixes: 25ias, 25min, 30max, 40aa, 30dex, 20fcr, Life on Striking, Lightning Arena oskill, Banish/Doom proc.
      Doom adds ~150 phys dmg to every wdm source. Banish adds bonus rainbow dmg on top of your own. Keep picking rare ammys up in hopes of finding a good one with 4 or more good affixes. Note: +skill will only help Paragon (~125hp per sk) Spellbind Duration, and slight magic dmg bonus to EF. It will not help anything else in any relevant manner. All-skills is useable, but it's not an important affix to get on bowzons.

  • Aside from the relics listed above, any relics with x-x damage are nice.
    Generally speaking for farming you want Wyrmshot Relic 100%.
    The rest are more or less situational/personal preference.
    I usually grab Pounce relic if I can early for FHR and small Bloodlust bonus.
    Barrage relic is also nice for pierce and trie ele.
    MotW or the other buff relics are nice.
    I also like messing around with Stormcrows and Phalanx, even though they're probably less effective than other options.

    Depending on what level you reach you may or may not have room to apply these, they are listed in order of importance and power for general bowzon farming. They are somewhat unnecessary but their power is noticeable, especially Warbringer.
