can someone help me, i'm too dumb to figure it out. it's about setting up d2glide or d2dx or whatever makes the game run smoother. i'm on a duct-taped laptop and the game is fine, mostly, but the deimoss fire nova makes the game drop to 3fps everytime, causing heavy desync, and i heard there's technical solution to that. but i don't get in on linux.
i can sure cheese the fight and just take the novas, yes, but that does not feel intended.
i'm running xubuntu, most recent launcher (big THX for this one and nice that it just works, with the other launcher failing), playing in windowed so far.

Glide is a trap; use ddraw; 10/10 experience would recc
is there a way to do this via the launcher? i dont get the menus and trying to setup the d2gl stuff does not work so far.
Running on Linux mint here, the launcher never worked for me, yours got me a lot further.
Only problem I have now: everything is overlayed with black squares, looks like they cannot display transparency or something. Is this a known bug and can someone help me fix it?

Hello, I'm having trouble getting d2stats to work after the new update (which ruined my streak of "stubbornly staying on glide for 20 years"). After updating everything and using gavin's tweak, I got d2gl working perfectly and a nice functional game. But d2stats is just not reading anything and then close after "failing too many time in a row". The logs are just lots of "[UpdateDllHandles] Couldn't retrieve dll addresses. (error: 0; extended: 0)

What's weird is that very rarely it just works normally for the whole session and I don't get why. I saw discussions about this problem so it seems known, it seems to be something something about d2stats struggling to work with sigma-loader when d2gl is on, but switching to CNC-ddraw doesn't seems to fix the issue for me so I'm struck. Any ideas?
