1. Fresh install of D2 and LoD into it's own folder on the desktop to keep things as clean as possible.
2. Install Median XL launcher into the same above desktop folder.
3. Open Median XL launcher, choose the correct file path location to install Median XL to.
4. Close Median XL launcher.
5. Open Median XL launcher, click install.

Stuck here.
Median XL launcher already has admin privileges so there shouldn't be any permissions issues copying over the d2char.mpq file.
Also tried deleting the Median XL install portion and redoing the process but the same error occurs. The D2/LoD installs are fine as those both launch fine. I've also installed and played Median XL many times in the past without any real issues, so this process isn't new to me at all.
Going to wipe everything D2/LoD/Median XL off my PC and start the entire process from scratch I guess.
edit: Clean installed D2 and it kept launching with a Median XL splash screen. Went into AppData > Roaming and found two Median XL folders festering in there still. Deleted these both and launched D2 again and it keeps launching with the Median XL title screen. What gives, what other nasty folder locations does this mod install into? Programs & features doesn't have Median XL either (was the first place I uninstalled it from) but trying to remove any other remnants of it from my PC so I can start from fresh. This is why I hate when games install into the AppData folder and other difficult to find locations.
Edit: SOLVED. Had old remnants of Median XL / Diablo 2 stuff from years ago when I played last, causing conflicts. A fresh reinstall of everything worked.
