the +20 to veil kings is not the one you can get normally. They are immune to all elements except physical and magical and they have 75% dr and you get 2 of them. Also they have 20% chance lethal poison attack and they're just 1 shotting everything for me.

Good thing I had the whole set and tested it. Pretty interesting. + necro minions doesn't give you more as my fellblood isn't giving me 4 instead of 2. Ignore the low health i'm still in terror with 0 charms.

How much health does your void archon have compare to the veil kings from the set?

I'm not even 120 yet and I have 0 charms so the health is really low right now.

The reason why I refrain from using the veil king from the summon skill tree is: although the Veil King has about the same life as Void Archon, it still dies much more often for the simple reason that the void archon can attack while being hidden behind other minions (like a lamia passing through everything). However, Veil King is on the frontline and thus gets hit much more Often.
Unfortunately, you can't see how much life either of the 2 Veil Kings from the set has left.
So I thought that Veil Kings from the set at least have to have a much higher amount of HP to not worry about them at all. It's hard to guess if they are viable. I probably wouldn't use them even in endgame.

Maybe they're worth using as your minion to teleport to so they are always healing? Mana cost is 746 though

Mana cost is negligible as a necromancer with Embalming's Mana Regen. You can spam Disco Inferno almost endlessly, and that costs 1972 per cast, not even specced into energy.

Well, that's because +necromancer minions only add more minions to the summons of the necromancer summoning tree. However, since that Veil Kings oskill comes from the full set bonus, it won't be affected by it.
