Recently traded a decent shield for this. Just getting the 2% base block chance mod on there jumped me from around 50% to max block at 75%. My tankiness increased dramatically, despite only have 158k defense and 34% phys resist, I was able to breeze through most of the 120 ubers. 123 now, working on the grind.

The description for the Firedance DS bonus isn't very clear. You have to be inside your Firedance circle for the extra DS to kick in.

It's a good enough weapon when paired with the other gear in the list. I did all the End-Game Ubers with that setup last patch--except Void (which I never do), Samael (which I didn't even attempt), and Ubers that required specific gearsets.

Maybe I missed it, but it looks like no one here has considered Fire/Lightning as a build for Melee Sorc and yet it seems to be working quite well for me up to 121. Any thoughts? I feel like the Firedance is too good a buff to give up, especially considering I play with friends, and the passive +life and regen is nice for survivability too. Warp Armor seems like it scales quite well as you get better gear, and the extra avoidance is nothing to scoff at (I have it up to +12%). Nova Charge also scales well with Dex and all that extra mana just helps me spam more Bladestorm.

I think fire is good for phys builds. I think for ele/pen lightning/poison is your best option. Firedance buffs phys damage. What’s your friends play, build wise and what do you run?

I do think with ele pen that we need to figure out alternate sources of VIT. I really like the royal circlet as spellblade option over Trang’s. I still need to figure out other slots you can sneak it in without sacrificing too much damage.

Question about cow level. Is it still the same recipe and did median lift the stupid stipulation that if you kill cow king you can no longer create portal?

Your D2Stats is def out of date, I'd highly recommend you just download the one in the dedicated tools thread. With the new one, all you're doing is marking which items you want it to notify or filter for you with some simple syntax.

In other news, I found an ethereal lightforge and I'm wondering how much better (if at all) it is than just a high block shield abandon-crafted spiked shield. My current shield is 5% base and I'm currently at ~68% CTB without even having 6x Io runes in it; swapping to even just my 4% shield drops it to the mid 50s so a 3% light Lightforge will result in the mid 40s at best. On the other hand, if I socket 3x Auhe runes in it, I'm getting 15% physical resistance, 75% character defense, and 6% deadly strike, not to even mention the good on striking proc and great defense bonuses I'd be getting from the shield itself. The extra physical resistance means I can even potentially look at dropping the Poison tree in favor of Lightning for more defense and avoid. These are solid tradeoffs but I don't know if they're actually better than capped block.
