3500 is quite a significant investment. You have to invest many item slots for that kind of dex, which will leave you with how much str? Whereas if you just use a 2hander, you will have like double the dmg compared to a glad dominance 1h build. AR isnt that much an issue at higher lvls since you do get a lot of flat dex and some ar from charms, and there are other of easy sources, so there is absolutely no need to go nuts for ar.

because they convert throw barb into dex based which is great for block. This dex conversion didnt exist either back then, so your only choice was str build, which didnt really work well with block, so one more reason why it was unpopular. About stances, the guide hasnt been updated for a long time (2+ years), since then lion stance has been nerfed a lot, and wolf stance buffed, so you 100% want to use wolf stance, its just way too good to not use. Also, eagle stance doesnt have lifesteal anymore.
