Wings of the Departed

I just found an item in Silver Spire called "Wings of the Departed," which had grey text at the bottom saying "Click to pay tribute." I clicked it and this light beam is now descending on my char. I regret clicking it before taking a screenshot, as I had no idea it would delete the item on doing so. I believe it was a tribute to Michael Exchange? (R.I.P.)

Any mods able to shed some light on this? No pun intended... Maybe a little back story on who he was?

He was an older guy who was stuck in a (Korean?) hospital with a terminal illness. He found Median and amazingly decided to spend his last days playing the mod with the goal of getting all charms. He was very close to his goal (I even helped him with some of the harder ubers), but unfortunately the last I heard from him he had all but 1 charm (can't remember which one... )
