Contrast, not gamma.
Contrast make dark / light area more sharper / distinctive .
Gamma is adding white to all area (so black -> grey)
Brightness is tricky part, i think it strength light area
*Im type of people cant play game in dark, so usually i crank up gamma despite those "adjust until 1 image is disappear" test.
