For non-Muricans, he means 32 C
Lol, indeed. I forget sometimes the rest of the world uses Celsius instead of Fahrenheit.
Since we're on the subject in the nonsense thread, why are Americans (talking government officials here) so pigheaded sometimes? It was proven on Mythbusters round-a-bouts are over 100% more efficient than stop-lights, yet every city I know still chooses to use stop-lights. And of course the metric system (proven system that goes by 10's) versus America's absurd obsession with the Imperial system... makes no sense! And healthcare, hah! America fucked that up so badly, its laughable, like seriously, every country in the world is laughing at how greedy the politicians (Congressmen and women) who wrote that garbage into existence were to make sure their rich lobbyist backers (i.e. the health care insurance system) got a nice profit when many other countries have been doing it fine for years as a socialist system... wtf America?!? Most of it has to do with greed, plain and simple. Here's a quick read if you're interested on
11 Things Other Countries Do Better Than America, and you'll start seeing a trend... that it's always related to $$.
switching to metric would take at most a year or two to get used to, if you use it. after about 5 years it would be pretty much natural. people that couldn't guess distances and stuff still won't be able to, but that changes nothing.
I remember when my country changed the money. it's not that big of a deal. yes, you lose some money doing such a big systemic change, but imo it's worth it in the end, since everyone else uses metric.
also yes lol, it's kinda funny and actually really scary and sad what the USA does with it healthcare. I wouldn't want to live in a country that does that. it's ridiculous. and some morons in our country are thinking of pushing a similar system (though a bit less extreme). I say to them GTFO fuckers!
I mean, thinking of "leeches" is retarded. every old man/woman requires extensive medical support. that's EVERYONE's parents and grandparents at some point. then you have some unfortunate diseases or problems that hit at least one person in one point of their lives in your closer or a bit extended family, or a friend. so it's not some fucking unseen leeches, it's your loved ones you're talking about here. just because some of them and you might be fine right now, doesn't mean you won't require serious medical attention later on - and in a vast majority of most cases, you and/or your loved ones WILL need it at some point in your lives.
there's also people with really hard diseases/illnesses that are a not so common and cost a lot. well, obviously they can't really pay for that. so you just want to let them die?!? WTF obviously the state should cover a very big chunk of their health insurance. you can look at it like a random disaster happening, would the state just leave the people of a disaster struck area to rebuild and recover on their own? fuck no, they have serious problems if they lost their homes, job, loved ones, income etc. it's similar with people with hard illnesses - they might even lose their job or not be able to do it because of it. the state should provide assistance. it's retarded to just leave them to themselves. and what's worse, it's not just them, it's the whole close and maybe extended family that suffers with them. so you're not just fucking up one person, you're financially fucking up a whole family or more, plus the unhappiness.
if there's a few leeches I have to suffer, I'd gladly pay for them as well, as long as it means that when I need it, I get the right medical help and won't go bankrupt or charged for everything. I don't think the number of real leeches is more than just a really minor %, hell, even they probably have some real need, but might just be overusing the resources a bit too much at that time. or they can't really pay for it, but does that mean we just let them suffer? NO. they might even repay everything back trough taxes/etc once they get back on their feet.
it's not like our insurance covers everything. you still have to pay something, but it's better than paying everything. and the healthcare isn't especially good, but hey, it helps.
now reading that article.
tuition for colleges is mostly free here. it's not completely free, the people at the bottom must pay, and also people that fail, but it's another thing similar to the healthcare. a LOT of people need it (if not, then someone close does), yet they must pay for themselves in the USA. well, fuck it, even if you don't have anyone that goes to college/uni, you benefit from more well-educated people. it's just that USA had it easy since it received TONS of well-educated students and people from other countries, that masked the real problem - plus, that way, the country didn't have to put resources/money in for their education.
lol it even mentions Croatia for one year paid maternity leave. XD
anyways, I don't want to go over everything in the rest of the article, but it's mostly true. we do have other problems, however - and the article doesn't mention them.
