maybe ~ you'v got older patch chars in your app data save folder ( leftovers )

remove them, or delete them

search for search programm 'Everything' in google, install the programm

type in the search bar: Median XL

sort out any old save folder/directory - remove/delete them

~it may happen that you have to uninstall your Median XL Launcher and get an fresh d2 install and reinstall the Median XL Launcher into it

try open the game in SP and in TCP/IP

create an new char

try also in Multiplayer

let me know if it works

Quick question: is there any way other than creating a new profile to get it working? I have the same issue with 'bad generic character file'.
Also, does it have to be a local profile or a microsoft account? Or is the problem really about only the non-latin characters present in the user folder name? If so, renaming the folder isn't really the way to go, you know ;).

I think this is the only way at the moment, at least it works. By default, the median xl creates its own folder with the save files in the user's folder if it were a choice to use another place, but it seems to me that it does not exist. For me, renaming the user folder worked, but you need to consider that you will need to change the path to some program in the registry from C:\User\"Old name"\.... to C: \User\"New name"\....

Yeah, I thought so :D. Oh well, I guess I'll wait 'till the next patch :P. Messing with my registry is a no-go atm. Thank you for the reply!
