Character deleted, still visisble in folder

Hey Median XL forum,

I've been playing diablo 2 for ages on and off and recently downloaded median xl.
I followed a great guide for 2h barbarian called the TLDR by aerial.

While enjoying the game this morning, my computer crashed and when I opened dia after restarting, my character was gone....
I can see in my save folder that the character is still there.

Anyone experienced anything similar? I would really like my character back as I've was really getting into some of the more difiicult ubers and enjoying end game content.

You would have to look in your median save folder for the .d2s file.
If it's not in there, take the one from your regular Diablo save folder and drop it in the median save folder :-)

I still have my other low levels characters, it's only the one I was playing while it crashed, that got deleted.

I think it's SP since you can see the save file, in MP you don't have access to the save files. So it likely got corrupted, first try loading/saving it with Offline tools viewtopic.php?f=40&t=342 If that doesn't work try asking kambala if he can spare time and look over your save file.

So I download the ofline tool and load it with that? I sounds very similar to PlugY.
And yes it's single player

I have the d2s file in there.

And I get this error with the offline tool :-(

Well then as i said, politely ask kambala if he can look over the save files, he has knowledge so maybe he can help.

Don't want to be that guy OP, but your character is gone and there is nothing you can do about it. This particular error means that d2s signature (first 4 bytes from the the save file) is missing, which leads me to the conclusion that your save file is empty as well. Looks like your PC crashed right before OS tried to save this character to the disk.
