I hate macs, I hate Apple. For many reasons. But that doesn't mean I would intentionally penalize anyone that uses an Apple computer. I just never coded on OSX and don't know what's required for my code to work on it, how to compile it for it. Then there's all kind of external factors to take into account, such as register keys used by MXLS, save files, etc etc. Also my code use quite a bit of Windows specific code.
That being said, no, MXLS will not natively work on platforms other than Windows. Those who want to use other platforms will need to rely on workarounds such as using Wine, virtual machines or whatever. I will also provide the full source to anyone that would be willing to try a port for another platform (however this will not be given to any random script kiddy, would be looking for someone with decent programming skills along with knowledge specific to the target platform for this task).
Yeah that sucks, MXL has always been cross-platform, but this was needed to develop more advanced features. That being said, for anyone reading this, if you think you would be able to port this project to another platform, you might as well contact me now. Sure the project isn't finished but this is not a task one could do in a few days as far as I know, and it still can be started to make most of it before the release is ready.
