I've tested once until lvl100, looks like Whirlwind and Snake Stance (without self-synergy) have a linear evolution when max duration archieved.

Snake bite has like 5times higher dmg/second obviously and benefits massively of "bonus to poison skill duration" from NEF runes.


Sounds like Whirlwind is too weak compared to Snake Bite, cause it's definitely gonna be hard to achieve 500% spell damage. It's probably easier to just stack -enemy poison resistance and build a classic throwbarb maxxing Snake and stampede, and using Snake Bite as single target.

Heyyo guys, I'm back at it, this time with questions about ELE throwbarb.

0) How the fuck does weapon damage work? ED vs EWD etc.
1) I've been leveling through nightmare using screaming eagle, and I found it to be quite strong. Is screaming eagle innate ele damage? How exactly is the damage calculated? I've been using Wolf stance, but could be convinced to go Eagle stance if Screaming Eagle is IED.
1-1) Also wtf is IED exactly, I know there was a big change last patch where they added elemental weapons bases, but I didn't understand the post.
1-2) I've been throwing screaming eagle at my feet to debuff the screen instantly and then throwing overkill in a line from me to my enemies. It works quite well.
2) What's the deal with Nephalem Spirit? How does it scale with levels? Is its damage calculated the same as screaming eagle?
2-1) How does pierce work with these 2 things? It almost seems like a bad idea to go rainbow damage since I'm sure it's not possible to get -199 elemental pierce for all damage types.
3) Why does Overkill not work near walls? it seems to not even hit 1 time, much less the multihit experience I've been getting against bosses like Shenk and Duriel.
4) I see that there's often an emphasis on guides etc to also scale physical damage, often through good crafted weapons and maxing Wolf companion for the mark damage. Is this damage treated like the base damage on the weapon? Is the main purpose of physical damage to facilitate leech?
4-1) I remember reading somewhere that wolf bite doesn't work in labs. (I've never gotten this far but still want to know) Does screaming eagle work?
5) What is a good amount of defense to aim toward for a char like this, that often needs to get hit and stand still to play? What's the way to get that level of defense?
6)) Does screaming eagle work for spirits? Cause that also seems like it would be a cool build.
6-1) Relating to this question, how do you get minion pierce for elemental damage?
7) General tips on damage scaling, effectiveness of the various on-hit overkill bulds (Like pure phys + Wolf vs the Ele thing I'm trying to do), comparision of Nepahlem spirit vs Gladiators dom (Glad seems like clearly the best, since it gives more damage, and also gives 6% base block wtf OP)

FINALLY: Is there a list I can look at that shows all the multihitting skills in the game WDM and spell based, including number of hits + WDM?

0) Calculating Weapon Damage:
Modifiers for weapon damage are applied as follows:
1: Ethereal Bonus (25% base damage on weapon)
2: %Enhanced Damage (%ED)
3: +Flat Damage.
4: %Physical Damage, this includes %EWD from items, %damage from skills / passives and buffs and str/dex factor, which are all ADDED up into one big multiplier (%dmg = %EWD + %physdmg + %dex/strbonus)
5: Deadly Strike (if it rolls successfully, x2 all damage up until this point)
6: %Conversion is applied.
7: +Flat elemental damage from weapon/gear/skills.
8: %WDM of skill used.

1)4)6) Screaming eagle works in lab (it's a debuff), it adds dmg after all previous calculation from any attack (like wolf companion debuff btw)
6)-1Except mythal from druid, no idea

I'm not experienced enough in barb for the other questions.

Barb can't get pierce to his minions anyhow and that's main reason why nobody pick nephalem wepens as uberskill for summoner. Currently you can use Hellfire aura enchant on helm for whooping 15 pierce for them!

Clarifying; does this mean that damage from Wolf Companion and Screaming Eagle are added at Step 7 in your description? Furthermore, ANY damage you do is modified by WDM at the end of the multiplier? So using Screaming Eagle and REALLY fast hitting skill like Whirlpool would still be affected by WDM?

Given that even Necro Summoner probably wants Rathma's rather than Jinn; It seems to me like Summoners are overall pretty weak.
In fact from what I see, the reason Necro Summoner is good is cause he gets a wall of meat in front of him from behind which he can spam Hawks, which do PHYSICAL damage :'(

Relating to godoffails' response, does this mean that I can scale minion damage with screaming eagle, since the debuff is applied by me and uses my pierce? That really does seem like a good build for general clearing and bosses where I can use summons.

Gotcha, screaming eagle and wolf debuffs are step9 in reality as they act on enemies, not your damage.
No multiplier from any other source then themselves.

On top of this, enemies resistances applies to reduce their effects.
Only -resistance debuffs like chronofield (sorc) / mythal (druid) / hellfire aura (-15fire res if scroll / jinn) and doom curse (assa) could help you to improve it.

Screaming Eagle and Wolf Companion curses are just pure direct dmg, WDM doessn't or other bonuses are no matter. As someone said above. Someone mentioned Whirlpool and it's one of the best to use with those skill, actually better than any barb skill. I don't think - res affectes with those skills, It's been a while since I played that build.

I think I'm just gonna stick with Totem Necro + Abjurer for my season start for 2.0. I understand the mechanics, it's easy to level and it annihilates all the content.
