Thats not how spell focus works. Spell focus and energy synergy are additives.

Having :
2000 energy + 0 spell focus will give x2.05
2000 energy + 200 spell focus will give x2.25

resulting 10% more dmg not 20%

I appreciate you too <3

I'm currently only at 500 Energy, and I have about 150 Spell focus from gear. Which means 200 Spell focus is about 25% at my current gear level.
Also, from what I see on the formula (https://docs.median-xl.com/doc/concepts/spellfocus), spell focus is linearly increasing damage added on top of energy synergy, which means that 200 spell focus is always going to be 20% added onto whatever your energy is giving.
(Even shown in your example, 2.25 - 2.05 = 0.2) I understand this is additive and not multiplicative, but the additional damage for the low low cost of simply summoning totems on hounfor seems totally worth it.

I do acknowledge your point however that spell focus becomes less useful as you have more energy, since it's added onto your energy synergy.

That formula is right, but 1000 spell focus isn't easy to reach, it's wanted for endgame.

Better focus on resistance pierce (-175 for most ubers) + spell dmg then spell focus.

I see what you're saying. That makes sense; it's more of a way to keep getting a little damage rather than an OP part of the spell damage formula. Pierce is gonna give more gains, since it gives increasing returns per point, whereas this only gives diminishing (not to mention additive as opposed to pierce which is multiplicative) returns.

Also just figured out how to deal with trap rats, rather than porting your body ontop of them and getting instantly wiped, it's best to use the strategy of placing totems far away from you, so that the trap rats shoot it at an angle relative to you. Totems have good avoid, so they will survive long enough to wipe out the pack, letting you advance.

Also do you know wtf synergy talon's hold gives?

Also my abjurer is not able to equip sorceress class armors.

Reanimates is only working for totemancer from Talon.

Then your merc must be just not having enough dex?
PS: As for hounfor... then it's same prebuff only skill, no need to keep it otherwise. Just cast and let totems snapshot additional 200 SF

Maybe I glossed over the Merc Dex amount, but I just assumed he would have enough dex to equip some of the Sorc set pieces, since he's my level and they gain so much more stats than the Player Char. I'll test and report back.

WRT Deathlord and Hounfor, It's really annoying to keep up tbh, especially since I respecced into deathlord and 1 point in death ward. I only have about 65k defense, but I haven't really tried to minmax it so far. Deathlord makes it impossible to cast hounfor, and has a 10 min timer.
This means the summoning ritual for totems is
-Cast deathlord (to equip all items)
-Summon Jinn
-Cast bloodlust on swap
-Eq Ngozi
-Dispel deathlord
-Cast Hounfor and move onto it
-Swap back to main weapons and recast Deathlord
-Summon totems (and minions if you got time)
-Switch back into Seid on swap to be able to keep up double dipping bloodlust

So I've just been leaving it off rn.

It's probably super duper worth it using Sentinel's Sorrow though, free 130% spell damage + 200 Focus

I'm prolly gonna take abreak now till the new season, so I don't get salty on reset, and don't get too used to some build or idea and am able to stay flexible based on patch notes.

Do Totems benefit from Minion Damage, or would you need to have the Sentinel's Sorrow Necro Shield in order to Benefit from Hand of Rathma?
