Does bear stance count towards dr% or are they seperate?

what do you mean ?

if you use bear stance on you right click you benefit from extra damage reduction and increased %TCD . it stacks with the other sources of damage reduction from gear ,if there are any . there's a cap of 50% dr from one source , can go above 50% from multiple sources (gear+ buffs/passives)

I guess I'm asking if the dr% from gear is different from bear stance. Also I thought that dr couldn't be stacked?

it's the same . it can be stacked as i have said above .

an example : a barbarian uses bear stance to reach 50% dr and has a void archon reanimate . the void archon aura provides 25% dr in the arrea , the barbarian reduces half of the 75% incoming damage (100%-25% void archon aura) -> less damage taken

same goes for assassins that use shadow reffuge / paladins (maxed blessed life + dr from gear / few points into blesses life + bear stance to reach 50% DR ) , sorceress with damage reduction gear + ice elementals aura + vengefull power . the cap is 50% from one source , it may go above if it comes from multiple sources , after the formula above . first applied are the auras

I thought that DR has a hard cap of 50%, no matter the source.

dr is capped at 50%, but the void archon aura applies to enemies weakening them, not the player. therefore it stacks with dr%

keep in mind if the void archon is a reanimate and not a summon the aura is much weaker

Chuck, that doesn't sound right..

So what you're saying is.. if I were to make a paladin and give him all blessed luckied gear for 2% DR on each piece, he could wear Nih Armor (17%), Vith Belt (12%), Ath Boots (7%), Baron Sludge's (10%), 4x Earth Pala Helm (12%), Crafted Bear Stance pala shield (estimate 10-15%), a trophied tran charm (5%), and maxed Blessed Life skill (roughly 45% estimate), and lc2-upgraded paladin class charm (5%).....

Then since all of those are below 50% per one source of DR, I could stack roughly 123-128% DR.

That seems like a complete lie to me..

Edit: So only the %DR stacks specifically with VA aura?

you can gain tons of DR if you play in a party btw :wink:

you didn't understand the forumula on the last page Lhawkins1 . you can get 50% from gear , and more of it from auras . the damage reduction is not added to the one from gear , i'ts not 50% (from gear) + 25% from aura = 75% . no . , it;s a different way to calculate it . read my post again .

one source does not mean one item . so for example , supose you have a barbarian with 50% dr from bear stance and 50% from gear = stacked 100% dr. your cap is still 50% , so the other 50% is wasted . if in pressence of an aura , you get less damage because the aura is applied first . do you get it now ?

same goes for the other examples i have stated in the other post . it's the 3rd time this year i've posted that because people are keep asking about it and they dont use the search function .

and i am 100% right . it's a known feature

Colliding Fury

gives Ice Elemental oskill. The skill is broken because the DR and x3/2 def auras don't work when they're summoned for some reason unknown to me..

But hypothetically, if it did work, and I used bear stance on my summoner, I would get 25% DR from the ice eles, and then stack up to 75% with bear?

Edit: Sorry to anger you because of a mechanic I didn't know about.. I guess it's wrong to happen to browse through a thread and see a question I was confused about. And to be fair, in the comment on the last page, you explained it really poorly until you cleared it up just now in the post above this one.

i said NO , it's not the way you are supposed to calculate . also , forget about looking at LCS , it's not accurate in this situation
