as the title says; I've been trying for the past 3 days to install Diablo 2, and then downgrade it to 1.10. I believe i have succeeded in the downgrading, however i cant for the fucking life of me get a no-cd crack to work. Even with the Expansion disk in the cd-tray, it still asks for the CD.

so i wanted to know if anyone could perhaps provide a download link to a copy of their Diablo 2 folder version 1.10 so i can finally try 1.6 of BFE mod

i have tried to install it from CD where i get 1.09 and then upgrade from there. I then constantly got the "insert Expansion disk" error. I then tried downloading it from Battle.net and downgrade from there, but that is apparently not possible.
- i'm currently using ver. 1.51 of BFE with D2SE, however i really wanted to try the 1.6 version and afaik, 1.6 version i not compatible with D2SE

Sorry for the late reply. If you are using the disc's for say from the Battle Chest, you should have some files in the disc. open them in windows explorer, then find a few files and extract them to your Diablo II install directory. I believe these two files are D2XMUSIC.mpq and D2XVIDEO.mpq. Then after you have extracted them into your Diablo II directory, you should then be able to run the game without the disc in your hard drive.

That, and use d2loader for 1.10. It might still be on Blizhackers website

i moved the 2 MPEQ's from the Play disc, and the 1 file from the Expansion disk that i needed to move. I have a 1.10 game exe, but it still asks for Expansion disk :/
- trying to locate d2loader 1.10, cant find it so far on Blizzhackers website yet, still looking

doubleposting with update:

I have installed the d2loader, which circumvented the need for a CD as it should. However now i get a crash on startup. Dark screen - crash to desktop - promprt saying "Diablo II.exe has stopped working".

anyone got any ideas? So close to the finishing line, and yet so far :D

This is really odd :3. You said you are on 1.10? And you have the correct d2loader? I'll try and find a solution.
EDIT: Turns out that the .mpq's from the disc only disable the need for a disc for 1.12a+. Still searching...
EDIT 2: Try this one. It's for 1.10s, you can drag Diablo II.exe into your folder and that will install it. Make sure you are running the Diablo II.exe and not Game.exe. The Game.exe will run the default 1.10s version while the Diablo II.exe runs d2loader.
Also, I am not positive this will help, but try to run the game with compatibility set to either XP (Sp2/Sp3) and as admin. Also running it in a mode other than D3D helped me out once with loader.
