Honorific items and sockets

Hello,
I purchased a necro "Raptor Scythe (1)" from Act1, Hatred difficulty. It had 2 sockets. I then uptiered it to (6) using arcane crystals. After that I changed it to an honorific item. It became honorific but the sockets remained at 2. My understanding was that the sockets would automatically be maxed out to 6. I even tried to add more sockets using jewels but no luck.

Did I do something wring in this process? My goal was a tier 6, honorific necro specific Raptor Scythe with maxed out sockets (6).

Thanks.

Cube it with a rune and catalyst of destruction. Then make it magical then honorific.

I would try the following:

Scythe + rune + catalyst of destruction = grey scythe[6] (Remember the rune!)

Grey Scythe + 3x heart + 3x Candle = new honorific that should have full sockets.

you need a magic item for honorific, so you need to cube it with enchant oil and rune first

also its just 1 heart and 1 candle

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Any idea where I went wrong though? I ended up with an honorific item (green item) without max sockets. Also, does it make a difference if I uptier an item before or after I change it to honorific?

It gives max sockets for the item in question. I.e. tier 1 items can have 1 max socket. Using a higher tier base item will result in more sockets.

I think you upgraded it with the arcane crystals without using a rune each time.

you probably made it honorific before upgrading tier. you should always uptier first

That's what I thought but right now I have a "Scythe (6)" with only two sockets. Doesn't that (6) mean tier 6, and should have a max of 6 sockets?

I'm pretty sure I uptiered first, before using the reagents to turn it honorific. I'll try again to be sure.
