Does it really? That's great...
I remember from some tests I did a time ago that d2gs cannot use more cores efficiently - it mostly uses 1 core and when there's lag only 1 core has 100% cpu use...but maybe it's because I tested it on virtual machine...

That's strange - D2loader is not used/needed - my GS run even if I delete it...

@Taem : it's OS independent...it's just that I found that page for cpu mask explanation...

Hey aahz some people have been reported lag in GS1 for a couple of months, were there any settings changed in the last couple of months? It seems odd as I believe this issue started happening before the reset, so I'm not all sure it's related to the # of people playing

@Marco: no changes I know of... and according to system graphs it doesn't look like it started before - load was lower, as was number of active players...but GS1 runs on virtual system - maybe it's provider made some changes...

Exactly the problem I was having but when I changed it I haven't seen the problem occurring anymore. Maybe it's just a coincidence, there is no way for may to be 100% certain. As for the virtual machine, that's also what I'm on ( Hyper-V ). I changed my VM setting for 2 cores and my cpumask using only core #2 to 16 cores and cpumask using all of them ( possible overkill of almost 1.5core/user  )

Okay, so how exactly do we make this change to our servers then. Is that in d2gs.ini, the registry, or something else entirely because I'm slightly confused by the info, but would love to take advantage of my servers four cores for a faster experience for everyone.

@Taem: it's best to set it in admin console (telnet to port 8888) using command setcpumask 15 (for 4 cores)
(or in the registry before you start d2gs)

Alright, cool, done! I guess there's really no way to see if it works until the server gets strained.
