Short) Is there a way to change the maximum number of items displayed with alt (I assume it's a game engine limitation of some sort because Multires only makes the problem worse, the first fix I tried) or to change the item despawn timers without breaking anything else?
Less-short version) I find the biggest thing that annoys me in D2 is the amount of loot that drops in some areas. Eventually, a character hits the point where the best idea for farming is /players X in a heavily-populated area. It's very easy to run into situations where (even after a thorough effort) you miss an item or drop because it's totally invisible no matter where you move due to being buried under whites and magics, orbs, and runes/gold and +1 Druid Skills Sigil of Tur Dinmyoatmeal that are totally useless to all your characters. I was hoping Multires might fix the issue, but being able to see more only makes the problem *worse* because the number of possible visible items doesn't change. The cold calculus of war states that eventually trying to pick through loot too thoroughly is going to tank your killspeed so hard that you're better off simply accepting the lost loot as inevitable, and that makes my brain hurt. One way I've sorta worked around it is to set a timer for 22-25 minutes, clear huge areas, and retrace my steps after all the junk has despawned.
This would be a lot easier if the "alt-displayed item tag limit" were increased, or if it were possible to modify the loot timers so junk despawns after a minute or two (allowing you to still pick through stuff if you actually want it) and the rarer drops were made to last for a lot longer than 30 minutes (so perhaps set it to 2-3 hours so you can exterminate the entirety of Fauztinville and safely do a "loot-picking run" afterwards).
I've looked at a lot of mods and my Googlefu is usually pretty strong, but I haven't found any options available that don't also break Median. Nearly anything is possible, but does such a thing already exist?
