I still haven't gotten this character up and ready, but thank you for this guide. It's so refreshing to see an interesting new build being highlighted in the community.

And why do we want arrow over knife in the bow?

Yes farming Toraja is annoying in general unless you are a summoner character. If you play on realm it's best to trade for the rune, otherwise hit and run tactics with divine apparitions and scourges on the archers. At least the Krys is the most common drop so it won't take many runs.

Arrow and knife projectiles do the same damage, but the former spawn with a bigger proc chance (25% v 18%) on crafted bows.

Thanks Balance for all those guides you are providing. Tantrum Paladin feels amazing, I just finished Hatred Difficulty with 6k defense and level 48 - this has been the fastest I have ever done it I believe.
I also lucked on an amulet with 2+ skills and 15 to lightning arena - it's a 400 second lasting buff which helps alot casting through your tantrums and not being knocked back all the time. Also helps when you are dead and being chased to your corpse. Especially at Baal. ;-)

I have one question though, does it matter at all, which +skill you have on Tantrum? From my understanding that only affects the time the clouds stay after you stopped casting - since you are holding Tantrum, that doesn't make any impact, right?

It only barely matters if you kite tougher monsters or sit in one place for a long time, the extended duration then might help.
The extra duration is nice, but not necessary, so don't reroll a bow, just because of a low +tantrum on it.

I just made it to 115 and started my first Fauztnville run, about 1h30m ago.
I managed to get 2 brains within that time, used about 80 teleportation scrolls and died like 12 times.
My biggest issue is handling big pulls, I try to teleport at the border of the creepwave with DA, trying to freeze these harpies in place and spam Tantrum while they are all running towards me - it works, until I get knocked back/stunned.
And who thought those annyoing Harpies were a good idea? :lol:

I got myself a map but I still don't have an idea what I am doing at all - got any guidance?

I have 11k defense, 80% Pierce and 123% FHR, 27k AR with Tantrum, unfortunately I haven't gotten my sacred crafted war bow yet.

11k defence? Surely you must not be following the early game gear at all. Just make every piece there (minus the crafted bow) and socket + orb it as I've said. Then make a Yul RW staff with +8 skills on your weapon switch. Cube your Character orb with 15xIth runes. Prebuff Tainted blood and superbeast with the staff equipped.

This way you should have over 150k defence, which makes the challenge easy as long as you don't Rambo in too much.

Ah sorry, I haven't read my stats properly - its 110k defense.
Yeah "Rambo" is out of the question, but compared to other blackroad challenges, this is pretty insane.

It's the hardest of the 5 that's true, however paladin is one of the best classes at this. The difference between 110k and 150k+ def is pretty big for terror, I still think you are missing something on the gear front.

It is also doable with 100k def but you have to play less aggressively and use hit and run tactics. For example, run in to an empty area spam tantrum. Once mobs start rushing your way keep retreating and leaving tantrums in your way. This way mobs get killed before reaching you. Everything dies really fast here, apart from necrobots who get 1 shot by Symphony and you can cast slayers for support.

Made a picture of my stat screen. What I am missing is a second empyrean band, hanabigami, sacred greaves.
I guess the lack of defense is due to the missing greaves, unfortunately I haven't found sacred ones yet.
I have been pretty unlucky with the rings, wasted a few crystals, my first one actually dropped with 5% attributes.
And the sacred bow crafting still goes on, haven't even seen +skill tantrum on it at all.
The only armor item that doesn't have 350% ED on it now are the gloves.

If you don't have sacred greaves - use tier(6) instead. They only have 100 less base def than the sacred version. That seems to be the issue with your gear. In the early game setup the boots are the second highest defence giving piece at 4k+.
