On a side note: I like alot in median, but this topic is about a thing I don't like.

Who also doesn't like Invulnerable mobs and getting set to 1% health or instant kill spells?

I sometimes wonder since I started If I am playing a nice hack'n slash role playing - find best gear game like diablo vanilla, or a jump'n'run kinda game which most of them also kill you on 1 mistake and which don't require gear just different spells. <- Median sometimes... And: It also is alot of luck with most of the dangerous stuff you can't even see coming because of all the effects and monsters all over the screen overlapping the warnings (also sound warnings...), especially as a melee character. Who also doesn't like those occurences?

I feel u bro :(. Playing this game as a melee character require a lot of attention not to get instagib and you can't really farm mindlessly like other classes *cough* ele druid *cough*. And the instakill spells, in my opinion, they exist to give a risk while farming some Uber (Arrowside on death from Amazon in TA, Barrel in Duncraig), they however f*ck melee char harder than ranged one since you get less time to react when sh*t goes south.

There's some decent theory around invulnerable mobs, but in practice it's a headache. That being said, with the way this engine is bad with large numbers, there's only so many ways at the moment to make enemies a real challenge.

The instagibs are generally avoidable as long as you know the mechanics. Ice Clans on death splosion can be avoided by Rest in Peace affix, running away, or killing the caster for example. All about mechanics.

I think it's like that because of the limitations of the game engine. MXL Sigma might fix some of these issues although I'm not familiar with Sigma.

interest, to know the reasons behind it. So because you can equip theoretic gear that prevents 1 hits they have to create these 100% one hit mechanics and immunities. ok with sigma no more insta gip? :)

edit: explain some more of my positive feeling when reading your explain on the exist 1ko-mechanics

A Median XL guru... a true book of knowledge
The best designed and most interesting boss in the game in my opinion - Brother Laz - is invulnerable. That boss is a breath of fresh air because the strategy to defeat him is different from the usual: "stack damage". Not to mention that he requires a lot of game knowledge and good character control - just a superb fight.

Some one shots are necessary to prevent characters with the best gear facerolling everything while playing with one hand - they make you actually have to play the game or test your defences (for example TA arrowside or Triune meteors are not 1 shots to those who are prepared). Arguments like "this is not like d2" are pretty meaningless - median is its own separate game.

Don't confuse heroic shields with invulnerability by the way. While these shields are currently only in the game to simulate boss hp higher than the life cap and most will be removed, it is a unique mechanic that brings some much needed variety if used sparsely. Also I think many players are confused about what the removal of a heroic shield means. It does not mean that you will be able to have enough damage to kill bosses in seconds (like now when their immunity is down).

I feel better knowing some more background on resoning what appeared "little bit" unecessary (topic)
I meant the hack'n slay gear genre not vanilla d2 opposed to the additional genre theme in median (see topic) , indeed i like that it a seperate (improved) game is.

Stack survivability and OW is not really better but he is a great boss, I personally love running around with a glass canon in melee and dying because I was too bad.

I could say the same for the Triune final fight. You could do this one naked if you know whar you are doing. But if you don't, even a Perfect Natasha won't save you.

As for Laz, my only complaint is the insane amount of AR you need to stack on your character to have a good chance to hit him.

For my least favorite boss, definitely Jday
avatars. They cast unholy armor when struck, which penalizes skills like flamestrike or Hailstorm. But my biggest complaint is his summun skill. He can call more than 5 dark edyrems in less than 2 seconds. So if you triggered UA while trying to take it down, it's basically GG. With a timer as low as 1 second on the skill it would make it a more reasonable challenge for most classes.

Just my 2 cents on a great mod.
