No need to gamble anything. Maybe rings/amus are the only ones worth it cause rare rings are always a potential upgrade. No sacreds can be gambled (AFAIK, shouldn't have changed unless Sigma crazyness). You need to try jewelcrafting or trying to reroll your bases on your gear for better stated rune...

My character has been at at the gold limit for quite a while now and I don't know, what to spend the gold on.
I read somewhere, that you can't get sacred items by gambling, so what should I spend my gold on?

Are there any patch notes for 1.0.1 and 1.0.2? I guess, these are just bug fixes, but I'd still be curious, if anything else has changed.

I had the same problem today. I fixed it by reinstalling both Diablo 2 (and LoD) and Median XL. Now it works again.
