Isn't one of the problems with AoD that it's hard to hit the target you want when there's a lot of monsters around it? If you give it a very small nova it will still be used only as a single-target skill (takes too many jumps and too long to hit whole screen with it), but it will be better at its job. Kinda like the druid's Poison Flash.

I think the animation looks dumb on the necro yeah, but it'd be cool as a barb skill, especially if you speed up the jump and add some sort of ground-cracking graphic when he lands.
Might be a good fit for Thunderslam, actually.
Also some D2 mod I played a long time ago (I think it was Touhou D2 or something crazy like that) had an animation for the assassin where she does a spinning jump. I think right now the assassin morph in MXLU uses it. A skill where the assassin did that jump and released a knife nova would look cool IMO. Maybe also as a finisher skill for Batstrike? That way it'd be useful even though the assassin already has Blink.
