The vast majority of content is definitely soloable. There is a 20 level arena run though called the "Crucible". You have a time limit to clear it and cannot die or the run ends, it is supposed to be done with a party but people are able to solo it with certain characters. The Crucible is due to be reworked in the next ladder reset patch though, making it way less likely to solo. The rest of the content though (and there is a LOT) is definitely soloable.
He has some very nive drops that are exclusive to him, including a really nice Summoner amulet.
