Really what i'm asking is, what stats precisely should I be looking for?
I'm only keeping jewels with exactly 2/2 mana/life leach, and i want to maximize my character's potential with the jewels i use. e.g. shark with + 1x indestructible jewel and 4x IAS jewels in broad sword for ias cap. I don't use 2/2 +15 ias jewels if they dont have more good stats, like life or res. In my shield, I use 4x -req jewels because tower/gothic shield. in my head piece i definitely use -req jewels because it requires 1,200str to equip.

For other sockets go for 2%str & flat life but honestly you might as well use lum runes apart from the chest which needs Jahs. Wolf doesn't need life leech because your phys dmg is not that high initially and also you get a ton of life on kill from your passive. Same reason why mana leech sucks - best is to stick to Lo rw sword and throw in a +2 or +3 skill teganze amulet if you need more mana sustain.
