I was playing my bowazon today on the realms and i noticed i had an oskill from one of my items.

vanquish: temporarily grants a huge bonus to self or target ally.

this got me thinking... would it be possible to make a build in MXL where you do very little or no dps yourself but provide buffs,cc or something else that would drastically increase the effectiveness of a party? Just an idea i had im fairly new so im not aware of all the synergies around but it seems like a cool idea. :D

It could certainly work. I've seen higher level players have characters created just for buffing their farmer. It's pretty pro.

Because of the way median is designed, purely support character don't really exist. Every char is designed to be able to complete most (if not all) of the game on its own. In a way, dps is the best buff, but many chars have some skills that can buff allies or debuff enemies and that can be quite useful to a party.

Probably the best, and maybe the only true "buffer" is a summoner barb, which is designed to be a party buffer (where his party, when playing solo, are minions and reanimates) thanks to the enhanced stance radius and many stances at his disposal, but that's far from the only thing he can do.

So, maybe there *is* a way to build a "true" buff only build, but it probably wouldn't make much sense because of the way median is balanced.

^ Agreed - but they aren't just for buffing, they are also for holding tp in ubers so these "higher level players" can rejoin when they can't recover their corpse. So much for multi-logging for muling purposes only.

1st page and already of topic :wall:

Paladin is usefull to have in party for tainted blood and rapture buffs.
Amazon is usefull to have in party for bloodlust and SoV gives nice boost too + tanks.
Barb is usefull for stances, depends on party though as bear stances works poorly with casters.
Druid is usefull for MotW buff and summons give buff too.
Necro is usefull for rainbow dmg buff and summons give buff too.
Sorc is usefull for slowing enemies all screen wide and tanky summons.
Assassin is useless.

On the subject of doing damage and helping party members, each char can contribute something usefull depending on build. Most of the time it's additional damage and crowd control.

Barb also has Nephalem weapons and could possibly have better motw buff than druid.
