Yea 40% IED is low, especially with no IED boosts in the tree. Plus necro has very little access to life Regen or LoMA.

Heres is how I would look at the two dagger scenarios (ignoring scythes). Let's say you had 5k dex endgame:

For IED: 40% IED on weapon probably ends up more like 60% IED (+50% innate endgame), so you're looking at 3k weapon damage, x3 with 200pierce (if even possible). So your dagger IED alone is dealing 9k fire damage.

For PHYS: figure an average wpn damage of 300 (

), dex bonus gives 650% EWD and Famine gives 750% EWD. Which turns 300 into 4200, then assume 2x for deadly strike so 8400 total weapon phys damage from dagger.

So just the dagger alone, damage-wise things are about the same. But flat +phys damage from gear gets multiplied by that 650% AND the 750%, so that's 15x. Whereas flat +ele damage only gets 3x multiplier from fire pierce. That is a massive difference, and I don't think the higher +ele modifiers make up for it when you have things like

Happy to be proven wrong though, and might even consider trying it myself still. I always enjoy playing builds in new ways.

forgot the -% from phys res everything has on that 8400, sustain you can "fix" with farnhams for the most part, i wouldnt bother with it atm, best to wait for more support, at least you can use carnage relic with the build tho...

would probably be BIS for damage potential then. Huge phys damage that gets all the EWD, then converted all the fire with 3x from pierce. No phys res to deal with.

I also forgot death pact gives EWD too for melee tree investment.
