Shadow Bite scales physical damage and can be considered a direct upgrade from Maelstrom sin because all your gear translates perfectly although I still maxed all the Ways skills on Assassin tree with ~100-130 ele pierce during my testing, so I'm not sure if PURE PHYSICAL damage is actually better or not.
Shadow Bite has better single target thanSky Murderbut worse clear, although, Sky Murder isn't that far behind in damage. The playstyle of Storm Crows is a little different from Maelsin because you will sometimes be forced to use Wychwind once every few seconds to force vulnerability on character to benefit from the Void Gazer passive (+1 targets to Storm Crows) which is the same orange text that is on Sky Murder. This will effectively help your clear in areas like Scosglen. Wychwind is your single target. Enemies that teleport like Etherborns are not worth using Wych on but the Sapling trees will die quickly after a few wychwinds into storm crows.Sky Murder

Playstyle aside, I have not tested a pure physical Shadow Bite Assassin but I'm positive it is extremely competitive, if not straight up better, as long as you keep using wychwind's extra target to storm crows (when farming only).

I think the easiest way forward now is sockets. Replace the Fal Runes from your weapon with Jah (Ideally Iah) Runes and replace all the perfect gems you socketed with Fal (ideally Fel) runes. You are missing out on 100 - 140% dexterity there.
AlsoShadow Biteis still better for single target dps and I would recommend gettingShadow Bite
