d2vidtest needs the same thing to run - "run as admin" and "compatibility for win xp sp2". Although if you get the game running this is probably not the cause.

The only other thing i can think of atm is 1) You have some sort of antivirus that is blocking the dll 2) Download our launcher and try to install the game with it .

You can also try this.

For those who did not manage to fix C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION, and tried the:
"Open Explorer, right-click Computer, Advanced System Settings, Advanced tab, Settings in Performance section, Data Execution Prevention tab, choose Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select, Add, find Diablo II.exe and add it, Apply."

... without any success. Try my solution below.

You have to disable DEP completely in your OS. To do this:
1. Run cmd as an administrator
2. type: bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff
3. reboot

You can turn DEP back on with...

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

Then I rebooted the PC, it's still not giving up this error is really persistent man

Try the launcher

I tried the Diablo II.exe in the diablo II folder, not the Game.exe on the desktop with -w anymore. It ran full screen and the same error popped out. Then a moment later this one also follow his brother's footstep:

So I got the laucher file, ran it and set up diablo II. Well, this is the result:

How to gear and skill Stormzon please?

There seem no good items, especially weapon which must be sceptre. Only 3 things are sceptres and the unique ones are 2 for paladin 1 for amazon but it has fire damage boost not lightning.
Rune words are bad as well.

I also read that it does not have to be melee but I cannot see how to play it as caster.

I would be grateful for any help.
