Sorc has less survivability than the last season, but it still melts content with most builds, for 1-120 i recommend flamefront, it's simple to use and it just works.

In median you should always be worried about your death count, i do not consider a character that dies constantly successful ever, that includes the very commonly used bowzon builds that basically corpse run through the game, it's really not optimal.

Be less worried about clearspeed and more worried about survivability, Melee necro for example is in the slow end of clearing and that's why its not considered top tier, it really does the job in style regardless of being slow it is as safe as you can get in Median.

Slow and steady wins the race, because all those meep meep characters that clears fast will struggle after 120, that's where necro take over.

short update for my zon, playing bloodzon for whole act 2 normal

1. Fire elemental
I kinda understand why they moved it to blood tree (fire spell focus, blood magic aura) , but it still a useful utility skill IMO for zon. I dunno if any late game build use fire elemental as hybrid build, but I dun see why dont just redesign fire elemental so that it evolved based on type of devotion you have. Just like old time where ice elemental inherit passive from other spell tree (i dunno the current design), but the current amazon skill design is VERY RESTRICTED in term choices especially ecstatic frenzy & athena gift are not for every build. I dunno how many agree with me but amazon neutral tree is BORING.

2. Burial Chamber (the room that you cant teleport / open TP)
Not a rant, I know it is kinda my mistake for going with low resist. Assuming the curse is lower resist, combined with multiple snakes summoning slow meteors, I got stunlocked to death just now.

3. Enemy in act 2
I didnt notice any significant roadblock. Even area like arcane santuary was easy since I already have fire elemental at this point. I have no idea how hard if you have to go melee with some of cold / slow stuff in there. At least the infamous tainted elite is no longer there.
I do remember some in canyon of magi or tomb of tal rasha being annoying rather than hard (with my melee barb), but i guess it wasnt significant issues.

now Im moving to act 3 with stormzon next (well, im cycling multiples games atm, so later in few hours), i heard many ppl say spearzon was a breeze, so i wouldnt need to test that for now.

That is my experience when playing alone also, i played with a friend before that i literally have half a stash full of runes from that session. It could just be random though.

just a brief run stormzon in act 3 normal, finally felt the struggle and died alot

so far I love the new skill (the one that deal 3x storm call damage)
i still have no idea what is weapon setup or stat distribution for this tree (2hand sword melee amazon? lul)
it still tricky to test which skill required mana regen passive (tried to max the melee skill, but kept running out of mana)
probably i will just respec and max stormcall since it somehow synergized 2 other different skill
kinda weird as storm call & hammer felt like different build

act 3 problem basically the combination of river, sniper groups and their freaking annoying AI
made that you either need fast speed to chase them, decent AoE or just some sort of homing spell
not bad definitely, just annoying.

as for difficulty, I dont feel any resist required yet (i stopped playing once i reached lower kurast as I got bored)
only the boss in spider cavern caused me issue
i think perhaps slow block & hit recovery animation made me stuck & die couple of time.


* im kinda treating this thread as my diary as i playing several new characters just to experience all classes as much as possible

stormcall is... iffy, yeah

stormcall at 1/3 of your level & using 1pt hammers for your actual damage (with stormcall/askari lightning as your backup against dangerous ranged packs like the flayer jungle ones) seems to be the best way to level through normal

... but with 155 base Strength / 445 base Dexterity I just didn't have enough mana sustain for bossing. Asterism by itself gives enough dex for the gear, maybe if you go down to T2 Pollice Verso and put a bunch of points into energy you'll have enough mana, but I gave up on the build. Feels worse than 1.8 when you had fire elementals and maxed energy for both mana and damage.

I'll be switching that character to hammers build and see how it goes. Or maybe I just farm charms for it with my melee sorc, but I like builds to stand on their own in ubers so idk about that.

Ok, either Im bored or I really have short attention span.
Just leveling up a cold sorc and cleared act 1 normal and stop to write this

Observation:
1. Apparently only sorc have 9 different skill tree? Why? If everyone get 9 skill tree, that would awesome! I havent check total skill count, but Im aware that game tend to "nerf" class by splitting hard point synergies bonus to another skill (prevent double dipping)
2. Only weird part I have with sorc is scepter / orb requirement for certain spell. In my mind, I assume the game want to design different playstyle between 1hand build and staff build. I remember there was hardcoded 3 weapon type limit for d2 engine, whist didnt fixed that issue? Im just not sure why limiting ppl from using other 1hand weapon (if that the idea). I also have this issues with stormzon tree (thundercrack & hammer of zerae).
3. I really like couple of passive skill design in barb, basically if it kinda some sort of specialization in the game (you put skill here, you cant put skill here). But Im puzzled with Sorc. Should i treat coven like "2 tree specialization" like before? I dunno why I feel weird, especially amazon badly need 2nd neutral tree. And there also 50 skill points specialization required for most bottom in all tree. Is sorc allowed to use 2 elemental tree actually?
4. Neutral / mana sorc skill is strong as I remember. 1 skill point arcane torrent being easier to use than cold nova that I put 10 hard point. Sorc with mana regen passive seem ok, at least compared to amazon (since you can use mana tree skill when you run out of mana). I personally have easier time with sorc, although majority thx to powerful this neutral tree (Im not gonna be stubborn and just run purely 1 tree, since no other class can do that)

*Any other particular sorc build that I need to try? Tempted for cold melee sorc, but seem like lightning have couple of new skills i have never seen.

I know all of my observation might sound newbie or weird, especially since I havent played game since years (I dont even touch sigma sadly, got bored). Seriously, this kind of short update is better than Im writing super long reviews format that I years ago where I tried reviews all skills without investing time into the game in late game (again, if the game get boring, i quit immediately).

I started about a week ago, wanted to play a summoner necro first but it took ages for me to kill something in the catacombs, even when I respecced to put everything into only skeletons or only death knight, even with the +1 to minions 2h staff, it took a really long time to kill some normal monsters.
Then I made my 2nd character, forked lightning sorc, and it was SO MUCH EASIER to kill stuff, even before I got TUs.
