I used to have a Windows computer a few years ago just to play LoD and some other games; The linux experience of MXL in specific is truly fucking stellar.
I recc it 100%. Get the MXL d2launcher from
https://github.com/murkl/d2launcher
And then supply the game files yourself; the rest is literally automatic.
Please keep a backup of your notifier file in a text document; it gets overwritten afaik when you update the d2stats application through the linux d2launcher
It might be a little annoying to setup multiboot; but I think it will be valuable in both short and long runs

I run a dedicated Windows VM on Linux with GPU passthrough for games, and prefer this over playing on bare metal or a Linux VM due to specific hardware issues.
It isn't a major problem for me since I can revert to an earlier snapshot if Windows goes rogue, but it's still a very firewall-unfriendly design for the launcher.
