I have the belt/head/armor. Using belt(instead of Deadfall) and armor(instead of silks or the studded leather w 70ish res) and yea... wolf is AWESOME. Hell... aside from other bonuses just being able to move fast is great. Get Zakarums. Any combo u can at first. But hands/boots is best.

You can definitely go beyond 200% ED using Jah runes (or other ED runes). MO a weapon to 200% ED, then socket Jah runes.

It means 200% ED is the softcap. You can't go above it with MOs.

Socketables will break this softcap tho and that's why you wanna first MO to/close to 200% ED and then dunk Jahs in it.

P.S. Is Tartarus good enough that I don't have to worry about shrine crafting? I find it boring and frustrating sitting in town doing that - and I don't have enough base stingers now anyway.

Tartarus is a runeword and there are no ED crafted jewels. Hence the best way is:

Renewal + Lucky a Stinger until high ED% (45+) and preferably AR% (higher better)
MO it with ED as much as your level allows (remember that Yul is a lvl 100 rune so you should act as if the item is lvl 100 requirement when MOing)
Dunk 5 decent jewels in it (either crafted or
Inarius' Rock
Inarius' Rock
Jewel (Sacred)

Required Level: 100
1% Chance to cast level 13 Time Strike on Striking
10% Attack Speed
Adds 2-3 damage
1% Life stolen per Hit

Put the Yul in.

It's good enough to carry you till you get the SU/etc ones, so no need to craft if you dislike it.

So, I found this guide and decided to try it out. There were some early embarassments, but once I got Widowmaker the latter half of Normal and most of Nightmare was smooth sailing. Baal could have been an AR problem. Try using TU4 LIght Gauntlets on bosses. The -def helps a lot.
Try using a TU4 Diadem with Starkiller (and 6x Jah it if you haven't yet).
As for jewelcrafting, you only need 1 rune (the recipe doesn't consume it). I'm assuming you meant jewels?

I'm comfortably doing 120 maps with Starkiller only. I haven't the shrines to spend on crafting nor have I tried making a Tartarus bow yet.

The problem I was having wasn't hitting him, but the fact that my minions seemed to die instantly upon entering melee and that he did massive damage even though all my elemental resistances are above 75% (magic and phys are at zero). My hit change was about sixty/seventy percent, though, so it might have helped. Mind, does Baal drop anything that doesn't drop from Mephisto and Diablo, or K3K? Because if he doesn't, I don't think I'd care to go through that again.

The problem I was having wasn't hitting him, but the fact that my minions seemed to die instantly upon entering melee and that he did massive damage even though all my elemental resistances are above 75% (magic and phys are at zero). My hit change was about sixty/seventy percent, though, so it might have helped. Mind, does Baal drop anything that doesn't drop from Mephisto and Diablo, or K3K? Because if he doesn't, I don't think I'd care to go through that again.

IMO.
I did all 115 ubers with it, and many 120, and ran Dunc, Teganze and Triune with it for farming.
Baal in nightmare is also annoying because of the constant mana drain, I felt it was more a challenge than several of the early ubers, with the same gear.
Don't bother farming him, you will find better drops in hell. The first SUs are coming in A2 hell.

Until you find those needed SUs, spend all that unused gold and Mo your TUs all the way to your level, that should also help.
