How viable is melee necro?

Is he a good char in early game farming with possiblity to beat eng game content? If not which melee char is better than him? Or in general which char is good for early game?

I don't know about melee necro, totem/summon hybrid is easy.
Barb (summoner or melee) seems to still own the game with pretty crappy equipment. Also the new neutraldin is super strong early game, as you can keep Sacred Armor and Demiurge up permanently.

Meele Necro is ok, just played a bit in this ladder because of game issues and work but just hit 100 with meele Necro and still progressing a2 hell with just t4 gear, I can say after swapping for some sacred rw and later getting my hands on metalhead it will be really good, main concern of meele Necro is that u will need a lot of jewelcrafting after 100 lvl for ias/fhr/LL and possibly ar cause metalhead is not that cheap xD

its good, carnage from start no cooldown, just scythes start slow.
Best part about endgame melee nec is that you can get shaad scythe with punisher. Alternative for paladin that does same thing (venom sting) is way harder to obtain than shaad.
