Launcher question / issue?

TL;DR every time I start the launcher it wants to Restart for an update even when there are no changes (and it always starts from the same base version as if the previous updates have been lost).

LONGER DETAILS:

When I start the launcher, it always starts as "Mod version: <blank>, Launcher version: 1.08".

There's a green bar saying there's an update available and I'm to Restart to apply changes (and the big red button says Install, not Play - so I can't just ignore it).

So I click the green bar (Install button doesn't seem to work properly) and it goes through an update process where it downloads a package.7z then it restarts and it now says "Mod version: 1.04b, Launcher version: 1.1.6".

Why does this happen every time I start it, even when there are no version changes? Am I doing something wrong?

Backup your characters from the save folder if you play Single Player (the folder is found here: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\MedianXL\save), then uninstall the Median Launcher, download the latest version from the website (Median Launcher) and reinstall it.

I think when I did it before, I copied the setup file into the Median directory in my d2 installation before I executed it. It seems to have a load of files there from that (which may not be good but it seems to work).
