Nova Charge doesn't suit the casters builds very much as most of the times you are behind the summons casting your main spells (Abyss in your case) so the opponents are very rare in the range where nova charge is efficient , so the points there are wasted (besides the fact that it deals crapy damage) . you can keep that as 1-pointer and max something else instead . either the witch blood for more damage and life after kill , or the ice elementals so they can tank better (maxing frigid sphere for boosting the elementals hp is also an option) . you will need all the meatshield you can get later on , as the character itself is not much of a tank . you can also consider maxing the Blade spirits instead of the Familiars as they will deal more damage , besides providing more meatshield .

Abyss is good enough as 1-pointer if you invest into witch blood and focus the gear on cold damage/cold pierce

sorceress body armors can spawn with Acid Fiends oskill , so in case you want to use a crafted armor , the fiends will be very welcomed . besides more meatshield , their acid trance aura is boosting your elemental damage and your speeds .

is also an armor part to think of if you still want to use the familiars while also get more metshield via Blade spirits

Would someone be so kind as to explain in detail exactly what this Mystic Orb does?

if suppose you have a buff that normaly lasts for let's say 15 seconds (see shadow refuge as example or Moonstrike) , by mo'ing the gear with increased buff duration MO's , the buff will last more than those 15 seconds , so you will have to recast/re apply it less often . mo'ing the rings and amulet with 5x such MO's each , you get a total of 30% increased duration .

however , there are a lot of such buffs that do not benefit from increased duration (MO's) as their duration stays standard . see Demiurge as example here

So would the vitality be additive like paragon or would it benefit from +%Vitality modifiers?

Ok, got it, thanks. Do you know if there's any place that would list which buffs don't receive a benefit from this? For example, these are the buffs that I'm using on my Paladin

Vessel of Justice
Euphoria

Also what builds can benefit from this?

there is no such list . you just have to run tests and compare results of standard duration / using a ring or amulet with 1 or 2 MO's .

since it seams you play a holy paladin , you won't need this increased buff duration . if' you'll play an unholy melee, you will need this to boost terror strike's duration .

creepy crafts/items that provide %strength / flat strength / charms that are adding flat stats or %stats .

you can socket 6x -%requirements jewels to reduce the str needed to equip untill you get best in slot gear

builds that could use this : treewarden / lion stance barbarian / 2h meme amazon with paragon and perfect diamonds in armors + smaxed lioness +charged strike main attack
