I'm running the game on higher gamma settings, to help seeing better some few things in GFX development. Might be that.

Also, great work! I hope the skill tree gfx look enough like Zartok's. It's kind of hard to see the similarities and differences without seeing it in-game.

Yep, perfect. It fits just like if Zartok had made it from his own source images. :thumb:

They will fuse somewhat. Sigma is more akin to a new version of d2's engine. It fixes bugs, removes limits and, most importantly, provides additional modding facilities, but you wouldn't be able to appreciate what it actually achieves without some way to use those fixed or new features. There's where Marco comes in. Even if you take current MXL files and put it on top of what whis is doing you wouldn't end up with a significantly different MXL version. Yes, you would have a nicer GUI, expanded resolution, drop filters and whatnot, but that's about it. Sigma does *much* more than that but you need to actually develop a mod that is able to use those things.

So, as I see it, MXL: Sigma will be a MXL version that will make use of the features whist developed in this new engine. From an end-user perspective it'll be "just" another MXL version, so I wouln't see any reason to have concurrent versions and servers. But of course, I am neither a developer nor a modder nor an admin, so I can't speak for them. But I'd be very surprised if MXL 2016 / 2017 / whatever is not discontinued when Sigma will be out.

By the way @whist, how far would you say development is for an initial version you can deliver to Marco? I know it's a shitty question by you said many times that most of the remaining work is GUI code, and you seem to be pretty good with that. What, do you reckon, are the outstanding issues you need to tackle before you feel confident enough to call the inital version ready?

EDIT: quote for notification purposes

Well, for once I can say it really is coming close to a potential release. That's my to-do checklist

Code: Select all

[] Inventory GUI
[] Waypoints GUI
[] Settings GUI
[] Item Desc
[] Drop Filter
[] Quest GUI
[] Bounty GUI
[] Party GUI
[] Bnet GUI
[] Main Menu GUI
[] Damage Cap
[] Nihl portal always opened
[] items always socketed
[] eth bug
[] mystic orbs
[] world event
[] summon skill func
[] weather system
[] zombie mode
[] carry1 stuff
[] cycle inventory
[] Extended Objects

Also, some stuff in this list are "maybe's". Things such as the zombie mode, weather system, etc. Also some stuff in this list is more or less finished, just needs revising or some fixup. Currently I'm on the party screen GUI. Once everything in this list is fixed, I will be doing a big revision of the code, going through every line to try and spot mistakes, bugs, maybe improve a thing here and there.

According to the oldest source file, the project started in June 2013. That is, I'm going to try to finish this before June 2016.

Code: Select all

Hey, I'm new to the forum although I've been a casual MXL player since learning about it a few years ago - any time I get the urge to play D2, it's always with this mod installed.

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the work that you've put into the mod and echo what's already been said by others. Sigma looks to be mind-blowingly awesome, and the screenshots here have me really hyped for it, so power to your keyboard!

Since you're doing a ton of UI work now, I wanted to ask a quick question - one of the things I find most awkward about D2 in general is that there is no built-in shortcut to transfer items between your inventory and the stash with just one click, and you have to click and drag everything. Is there any chance at all that this is something you can add as you come to work on the inventory UI?

I'd love to see this, and also a way to quickly drop items from your inventory :bounce:

Congratulations Whist, this is truly appealing material so far, hopefully this will breathe new life into the franchise.

I have already asked these features to whist a couple months ago, so don't worry. I can't remember whether he said it would be possible or not. If it is, the idea is also to make this viable for horadric cube as well.
