I'd rather play hamachi with those few friends/people that i know. All those "advantages" of playing in MP are gone now. Thanks people, you took something nice and corupted it.

I'm the type of player that, if I cheated, I'd still suck at this game. :thumb:

But yea, cheating does suck.

@Marco - I did think things through.

1) No I don't. You have plenty on your plate and I can appreciate that. Instead of going through the arduous task of filtering through messages related to cheats/hacks, why not have someone else do it. I'm sure there are a handful of people that you already trust that are willing. Said person could present to you a list as often or as little as you wish. It wouldn't need to be their personal account but a new one specifically for the this purpose. The [report a player] link in the rules section could then be linked to this account instead of yours.

2 No, but this is whats nice about the community having the ability to report cheaters/suspicious activity. Its the only thing realm players can do to try to keep it clean. At least its something until Sigma.

3) Maybe two posts weren't necessary but the first one was initially intended for multi-logging. I only brought up Amazon-Fury because it was related to Dustin's case in that both players cheated for profit. Then you (Marco) acknowledged buffers/tp holders but mentioned nothing about Dustin or Amazon_Fury. This made me wonder why two people, who are both top ten tg holders and regarded as accomplished players, aren't being reprimanded for their actions. Remember I stated that I sent proof about Amazon_Fury on the old forum, so either it slipped passed due to operator error or deliberate negligence. The second post made sure that that didn't happen again and provided proof I didn't think was still tangible.

You don't wanna ban him, thats on you. But at least the community knows he still hasn't changed, they seem to agree this is fucked up too. The fact that, when being faced with proof, you ignore his blatant disregard for the rules because of his contributions is a joke. I didn't lower myself to his level, you did.

This really brings out his true colors. He knows he cheated and gives zero fucks. This is someone you want to be apart of what you and others have worked so hard to make great? :shock:

On a lighter note, while on the topic of multi-logging, heres another guy who just doesn't get it. I've tried numerous times to explain it to him.

well, I used to help him with banning, but I'm kinda busy atm, and don't really like banning people. also, no need to push us too much (one public thread was more than enough), we are well aware of the problem, a lot more than you are, and have thought about it much more. I understand you're dissapointed with the current state of affairs, but it won't be like this forever, it's just that we can't simply hit the switch and ban everyone, for various reasons, some of which marco already mentioned. thanks for your reports though.

banning is more work than you think it is, if done properly, and doing a half assed job is not something I like to do. also, we can't really just allow anyone new access to the banning ability, because it requires access to a lot more back-end things to do it properly. and it could ruin lots of stuff if someone new decides to abuse the trust, and waste even more of our time (sometimes even with good intentions you can mess up something and create more work than at the start). that's why only very trusted (and somewhat tech-savvy) members can have that access, obviously, and that's why we're somewhat undermanned in that department.

I've planned to do a script that would do most of the work for us, but I never got around to doing it, since there's always something more important to do (like marco said), or rl that gets in the way (believe it or not, we have actual stuff to do in our lives ;P). but it will probably be there in the near future, when I get some time. plus another script that would auto-track multilogging abuse and stuff. and possibly even more detection features, and a limited interface which we could then give access to a selected few to help us out (instead of giving full access to the powerful back-end features mentioned above). once that rolls out, people will quickly realize that some of the things they're doing now are not worth it anymore, so it should get a bit cleaner after that.

we're currently in the process of building the infrastructure for various things (lots of automation), as you can see from a bunch of new features that are constantly coming out, just be patient for a while.

So banlist says he is banned, but shoutbox says this :

I am a bit confused when cheater gets away with it and plays on realm again. And he trades, interacts with people... What is the point of ban then ? Just to close down one of his accounts ?

Marco is giving them second chance. Its always been like that if you are first time "convicted".

It was already mentioned that there's no real point in banning by IP. People can easily get around it. That is, we just close their account, and they're forced to start with a new account, which is a big penalty nonetheless. For Sigma I hope to implement ban by CDKey

People can already get around this. Come up with something more efficient.

Is it possible to implent some anti-cheat program that simply not allow to run d2 if hack is running?
