Most fauzt mobs used to have itd, but now i dunno.

And charge mobs also ignore defence like that bloody toad in act 3

suchbalance wrote:Also in the bloody foothills and other areas of a5 are those melee dudes that cast rust storm, which reduces your defence massively and slows you down. Also those elite spiders that use the carpet of spiders spell on attack. Thunderbolts throw lightning fury bolts at you with some resistance pierce. Knights of death with their charge attack (always hits) which curse you and remove your gear which you can't get back at the end of the effect until you weapon switch, leaving you vulnerable to others.

Information like that really ought to be placed in the monster tooltip in some form or another, that's a very unnecessary newb trap.

suchbalance wrote:What I'm trying to say is basically no monsters "just" auto attack. They usually have an ability attached and your lack of experience/knowledge of those is leading to your confusion. Also because of the high density and attack speed of enemies 5% ctbh != immortality especially in melee. 1 in 20 is not that rare, especially if you have no mitigation & low hp pool and can't tank more than 1-2 hits.

Unless that 5% CTBH is a lie according to other replies, in which case I haven't really acquired it then. However, I am pretty certain those are melee attacks that wreck me and not some fancy magic attack.

suchbalance wrote:Also what happens often with newer players is that they focus too much on defence and their damage is low, which is equal to longer combat and hence greater chance to take damage.

I kill things pretty decently, it's just this issue with melee attacks randomly killing me out of nowhere. Sometimes I can tank a crowd of certain enemies and their melee attacks, and other times those same enemies magically flatten me in seconds with those melee attacks.

Notе that some melee attacks have shit-ton of elemental damage to them. If you lack certain resistance ( both flat and max), you can get one shot pretty easily, if you lack hp. As I said similar thing is happening to my pouncezon at the moment, she has low hp and only 32% dr. So even tho she has around 600k defense, I get fucked up pretty bad. Things to consider also are FHR and %UA. Both can get you in a stun-like state. So don't make us guess here. Take a screen of you char/build + screen of d2stats reader. Otherwise we are shooting in the dark.

Idk but it sems like some characters getting hit more often than others with the same def, avoit, resist, etc... For example Holy melee pala with 10k def can be kiled HTA while UH melee even don't lose any hp with same def (both on lvl 50 of course)

Maybe the UH paladin does more damage making monster enter fhr state more often thus they are unable to attack.

I went to go download it, and it is riddled with viruses, just letting you know.

I will try an in-game screenshot when I come back to this.

no it's not. those are just false positives from antiviruses, since d2stats reader has to access memory of another program (D2) to read stuff, and antiviruses don't like programs accessing other stuff. just ignore the antivirus.

It wasn't my antivirus, it was my browser telling me the link is plagued and refused to let me try and download it.

Chrome at its finest... Download it with mozilla or IE.
