I just tried that. The bats are definitely far from immune. Looking at how they melted under a moderate flamestrike with 18K life, I am pretty sure they only had the "normal" 50% max resists on destruction.

Summons can not be immune. Max +minion resistance is capped at 75% on destruction difficulty.
Actually, if I understand correctly, the cap is on the "@minion res" gear that can't bypass 75%. Since every summon level gives 75% capped all resists at level 5, this means that maximum resists for minions on destruction difficulty is 75+75 -100 = 50% @ res cap.
However iirc, bat familiars are supposed to be the "one and only" exception to this rule, being able to stack resists from gear as much as they want. And reach immunity.
I know I am the only dumbass out there trying to use bats, because it takes 2 full minutes to summon them and it's a pain in the bots to do even in the cold plains. But if bats can't reach elemental immunity, they are
worthless. They are supposed to be tanky because they are nigh impossible to summon in a difficult environment (every uber really).
